Seattle Support Rally
3/6/03 | ProudArmyWife

Posted on 03/06/2003 12:19:19 PM PST by ProudArmyWife

I have just signed up to Free Republic. I came across this website while searching the web for support our troops rallies in the greater Seattle area. I was wondering if someone could give me some contact information on how I would go about finding out where and when all the support rallies are taking place? Thank you for time and cooperation!

Welcome aboard ProudArmyWife! Check around on the free republic site, you can find the "Locale" area and sign up for washington... I've noticed one thing about this area since moving here, this is one of the most organized Freeper spots in the U.S. from what I can tell, and these guys got their act together. I wish i could help with more info, I'm sure one of the Washington Regulars will reply to ya shortly. again, Welcome aboard and God Bless America!

ProudArmyWife, hopefully Libertina and Cybercowboy777 will add you to their ping lists. The rallies are often announced in the WA locale, too. (If you set that in your Profile page you'll be notified of new posts there.)

And if you want some photos of recent events, you can see some of mine here. (Argh, I forgot to link to other sites... Libertina, can you help?)

Right now the only one coming up that I'm aware of is being set up by waRNmother.armyboots for March 22nd.

WOW! What a response. Thank you to all that have replied. Here I thought it would be atleast hours before someone replied! I must say, I am very impressed! Thanks for the kind words. I work in downtown Seattle and unfortunately have to look and hear the protest rallies. What a way to bring down a military family. I just wish there was something more I can do. I am compiling a leatherbound book to send off to the 4th Infantry Division, soon to be shipped off, of all the support rallies and show just how many people actually appreciate all that they do for us. I am just one person, but my message will hopefully roar loud. If there are any suggestions, feel free to let me know. Oh, and 35 boxes of nothing other than Americas finest Girl Scout Cookies! :)

The Puget Sound Freeper Chapter is headed by Chapter Executive "Libertina" who is a genuine activist. (When I was Chapter Exec, we mostly sat around and drank beer and ate wild game.) She ran a march only last weekend that I briefly showed up for in order to pat her on the back.

Check the Washington State Page for our intrastate communications.

And read The Story of a FReeper Chapter to see what happened before "Libertina" took over.

Man, I'd hate to be down there everyday.. That would be tough. Kudos to you and your family! I took the monorail from the needle to downtown a couple of days ago, and while on the monorail, I looked down to the street below and noticed that someone had spraypainted "NO WAR" in the middle of an intersection. I got out and walked down to pikes place, and had some greenpeacer's trying to tell me how the war is bad for the environment. *sigh*, I just politely disagreed and went on with my shopping. I miss how people rallied around the flag back after 9/11.... how can people forget so soon? God Bless America!

I am so sorry to hear this, ProudArmyWife. But I join Diver Dan in thanking and saluting you and "Mr. ProudArmyWife"! And know that there are a LOT of us supporting you -- the ones who can and do turn out for the rallies are but the tip of the iceberg. There are dozens at my workplace, whom the wife and I might fairly be said to represent when we attend. a rally

And if you would like to print and include the photos I posted, please do, with my blessings.

Well, you can definately tell I am new to this. I think I have gotten lost 10 times now. Keep in mind this does not show my intelligence level. :) I have never really used a forum before! Did I tell you how great you guys are?

Thanks, but it's you who we should be thanking. The more our numbers grow in the work place and at home, the more news, information and truth can get out. Plus it's people like you who make this community great. My favorite part of FreeRepublic is the number of eyes constantly watching the boards and the willingness to share information and give support! Not only has the FreeRepublic become one of my main sources for up to the minute news, but it's now my political and ideological home where people from all walks of life can come together and agree and discuss the issues of the day! :) God Bless America! ... and may this war be swift and final. Love you guys!

You will get the hang of FR in no time at all. Jump in and get your feet wet. Check out the other rallies for some great photos you can email your hubby. Thank him for defending us for us will you?

Many of the Posters at FR are former military or are currently on duty. Or had family members who served in past wars. My dad raised the flag on Corregidor when we re-took The Rock in WWII, hubby's uncle was a member of Merrill's Marauders. Hubby did his stint in th Air Force in Okinawa doing A & E on the Mace Missile during Viet Nam.

I think I have just found a new home away from home! The military Wives Support Group is more tearful and "what am I going to do" than supportive of the troops. Right after my husband and I got married, my husband came down on orders for Korea. He did his tour there and was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas and now the middle east. The first 3 years of our marriage (basically) we have been seperated! Feeling sorry for myself is not going to help me and sure as heck isnt going to help him over there. I wish more of the wives would get involved! I am so thankful there are people such as you all. You make it easier knowing they are cared for!

If you are not familiar with HTML you can go here to learn the basics. click here Basic is paragraph breaks < > put p in the center and you get a paragraph break. If you don't use it then all you get is one very, very long paragraph.

Does anyone know anything about the group "Not in Our Name"? A woman who lives in my townhouse complex has a sign in her window of the earth that says not in our name. Needless to say she also has a no iraq war sign in her yard. She has two military sons mind you. I was just wondering who this group was?

Ok, I found the "Not In Our Name" Official website. Apparently it started in New York City on March 23, 2002. Click the link to their site and read about thir history... Apparently these guys appose any war that the U.S. gets involved in. I'll try to block quote the first paragraph from their hisory page, if ya wanna know more click the link and you can learn lots more about this group against our military...

The Not in Our Name Project was initiated at a meeting in New York City, on March 23, 2002. The meeting was called for by a letter, see below, that proposed ways to strengthen and expand resistance to the U.S. government's course in the wake of September 11, 2001.

The meeting adopted the proposal - and the Not in Our Name Project was born.

The Pledge of Resistance subsequently was written and then distributed at anti-war actions on April 20, 2002, along with a Call to take up the Not in Our Name Project.

This group disturbs me. Learn all you can, know every group involved. And in the end make the descicions for yourself. I hope this helps ya. :) Click Here to learn about the Not In Our Name movement. May God Protect us and our military. God Bless America!
