TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- A man upset that his son was being bullied fired several shots into a crowd of teenagers, killing a 14-year-old bystander, police said.
Tyron Debaron Williams shot Jabbard Anthony in the chest just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, police spokeswoman Katie Hughes said Thursday. The boy died at Tampa General Hospital.
Williams thought the group of about five teens was involved in an earlier argument with his son. Anthony, who was a friend of Williams' son, was standing on a sidewalk nearby but had nothing to do with the group, Hughes said.
She said Williams called 911 after the shooting and remained at the scene until police arrived. The group of teens ran away.
Williams was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and jailed without bail, Hughes said.
The jail did not have an attorney listed for Williams and the public defender's office said Thursday they did not have him in their system yet.
As Wile E. Coyote would say "Sheer genius!"
Let's wait and get the facts, maybe this is a dad who belives in standing up and protecting his kids. Maybe it is as stated, but lwt's wait and find out. For if he came out while a bunch of hoods were beating up his kid, and he killed one in the process of protecting his son, then what he did is right.
I don't see anything here that would warrant indiscriminate gunfire into a crowd of people. But hey, that's just me.
