Please forgive the vanity, but my family is desperate for some FReeper help and prayers!
My niece, Michelle Berry, left home for a walk at 4:30PM on Sunday, March 2, 2003. She's 14 years old, blonde hair, blue eyes, about 5' 2", between 115-120 pounds. She's a beautiful girl and will be noticed in a crowd.
Michelle has run away before, but has always called or had a friend call for her. But this time, she left wearing flip flops and didn't take anything with her, no money, not her purse, nothing!
Her friends, old boyfriends, etc have not heard from her and are helping us pass out flyers and asking people if they've seen her.
Michelle's parents, Shiela and Allen Berry, are worried sick, as any of us would be in this situation and I'm hoping that some FReeper eyes and prayers can bring Michelle home. This is the FOURTH day and she's NEVER been gone this long, especially without calling her friends!!!
Note: She had her mother's cell phone with her and 2 calls were made. One at 5:04PM where she tried to call her friend Eric, but he did not answer and the other at 5:15PM to her friend Chris who did answer and has told us that she was calling to let him know that she wasn't coming over. We have spoken to the cell phone company and they informed us that no other calls have been logged on that number, but that it appears to still be within the range of the Miami tower.
No one has spoken to her since, but last night, a call came in to the house from that cell phone number. When Allen answered it, the person on the other end hung up. This gives us hope that she is just scared to call, and that's why I'm asking for prayers.
I pray that Michelle is just pulling a teenage stunt and that nothing has happened to her, but as more and more time goes by, our desperation grows. Please pray for her safe and quick return!
Thank you so very much.

Terrific news! After you hug her and kiss her, throttle her. Make sure she understands what she put you guys through. Explain the insomnia, the stomach cramps, the headaches, the worry, and the fright. I dunno, but I might make her work at a soup kitchen or some teen shelter so she sees what it is like for people who don't have family who love and care for them.
That said. Yippee! Hallelujah!

Thank God!!!! Now you should sit down with a glass of wine and a hot bath and devise a good grounding :) She's probably wanted to come home for awhile now but was too scared.

What good news!! What kids can do to you! When my son was 5 he managed to squeeze between the headboard of a bed and the wall and stayed there for a while just to see how it'd be if we thought he was missing. I never thought to look for him there but I just when I was about to call the police he came out.

Thank you for letting us know! Thank God she's OK.

Here are some words of comfort for you. We had one very wild teenage boy who I was convinced was the 'spawn of satan' for about 5 years. He is in his twenties now and has turned into a very strong conservative military man. I think back to the middle of the night trips to the police department picking him up (by the way, they will not keep them because you need beauty sleep) and can't believe what a difference a few years makes. We'll all be praying that she's done her acting out and now will start to settle down, but with her young age, she still might have some tricks up her sleeve. Hang in there and Thank God she's safe!!

Praise God that she is safe! I'm sure you are so glad it ended like this. I know the worst-case scenarios were going through your mind whether you wanted them to or not...
Michelle needs to see this thread in its entirety as one way of seeing the impact of her actions. Teenagers, huh? :)

Thank God she has returned. I know what it is like to have one never come home again. Hopefully someone or something will get thru to her so she doesn't put her family thru this hell again. There are so many evil people out there just looking for a beautiful girl like her. If you could only convince her of what can happen to runaways.

Suggest that the parents get a
Wherify wireless watch. It locks on the wrist, it tells parents where she is any time of the day or night.

I'm glad she is safe.
That is the most important thing.
Now it is up to the grownups in the family to get some outside help to make sure there is no next time.It may be better to send her elsewhere,to a safe environment, untill she understands that running will not solve the problems she has.
Best wishes to your family.I know the days ahead will be hard on all of you, almost as hard as the last few were.
