Texas Republican Party Platform Thread 137(Waste and Fraud in Government Contracts)
Brown County GOP Website ^ | June, 2002 | Republican Party of Texas

The Republican Party of Texas Platform has been MUCH in the news of late because it is a CONSERVATIVE document and, as such, VERY controversial. I thought it would be an instructive exercise, for those of us who wish to do so here, to go through it plank by plank and see where we stand on these issues. Pursuant to that, I will post ONE plank of the Platform, every few days and anyone who wishes to can state their views as to that particular part of the platform.

Today, under the heading Strengthening The Economy Of Texas And America we find the following plank :

Waste and Fraud in Government Contracts - The Party is opposed to waste and fraud in government contracts and recommends the Attorney General of the United States investigate fraud and misuse of government funds in government contracts prosecuting those found to be responsible. We also believe that all government contracts should be awarded only on the merits of the bidders' ability to produce the quality of the product or service performed at a reasonable cost. We also support the repeal of the Davis Bacon Act. We encourage the government to follow fair business practices.

I have decided to score myself by assigning a score of between 0 and 10 points to each of the planks! 10 means I agree with EVERYTHING in it. 0 means I agree with NOTHING in it.

10 more points (20 if it were possible!) brings my running score to this point to 1236 of a possible 1370.

The Davis Bacon Act is an abomination. I think it's unconstitutional.

Looks like another easy one. 10 points.

Too many easy ones lately. Think he is setting us up for a tough one tomorrow.
