Sunday starts next week...

March 7th - Blix Report & Powell's slamming response.

March 7th/8th U.S. Demands a vote on the 2nd resolution after Powell's smoking gun against Iraq is revealed.

March 9th (NEXT WEEK) The liberation of Iraq begins.

General Franks is well on his way back to CENTCOM. There is no reason for him to stay stateside.

What a difference a few years make

Not where televised addresses are concerned.

I'm sure the Mad Bomber of Sudan who waged his "moral war" to liberate Kosovo would be equal to the task of "liberating" Iraq. Particularly given the heinous inconsistency that is the selective targeting of "terrorist" nations on a par with Clinton's inability to detect genocide in Rwanda as opposed to Serbia ... where they are still hunting for the mass graves.

And it's true that Bush's first televised address -- announcing his decision on embryonic stem cell research to be legitimized with government funding -- exactly tracked the decision Clinton wished to make on the subject.

Absent the drama that is National Enquirer style bimbo eruptions and Big Hair evangelism -- "the difference between revenge and justice is Attidue!!" Amen, brother -- from the most conspicuously "faithbased" adminstration in history, there's really not much in the way of substantive differences between Tweedledee and Tweedledum.

Why would GWB telegraph his punch so far in advance?

Tactical surprise is nice if you can get it, but it is important to remember that it really isn't the only important tactical advantage that we have.

We could broadcast the day and hour of the beginning of this war, and *still* kick the crap out of the Iraqis. They have almost no means to stop us. Who cares if the AAA gunners know when to look for us? Their very existence will end before they get to pull the trigger.

Ah-OOOOO-ga, Ah-OOOOO-ga... DIVE! DIVE! DIVE!

Well...

I suppose that it could be about that idea to end double taxation on dividends. (He's gotta have something to talk about after the war's over.)

I would have to agree with this not being a telegraphed punch... if he is pulling the diplomats out now, the TV time next week will either be to tell the world it is over, or to brief the country on the progress. In addition, BJClinton and I have been in expectation of the assault coming during the new moon... which the moon phase is currently at 6%. Under cover of darkness, the sky fell...

Hmmmm?? Franks said today at a press conference with Rumsfeld: If the President should make the call - we are ready to go. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have taken the military which was supposed to go to Turkey.

I think Powell will give the definitive speech tomorrow at the UN - and that will be it! NO VOTE!!

It was just announced that the major networks, ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN have turned down Bush's request for free airtime.

Ugh...if all this is true, you have to hate the telegraphing of the punch. Some day this is going to get us in world of hurt.

There's absolutely NOTHING they can do about it. That's what's so great.

Dude... I'm thinking that the dosage is a little too much. Try taking only one pill tomorrow and see if things make more sense. :-)

Why would GWB telegraph his punch so far in advance?

JFK would appear on TV with no notice. Suddenly, from the White House.

Well, for one thing the press back then would not even contemplate denying the President air time. Not so, the press today.
