Judging by the past, "THE" speech always occurs AFTER the fact. The pres just announces that things are already underway.

Personally, I think it would be a hoot if the press thinks this will be THE speech and reserves some nice air time for him to announce THE BIG EVENT... and it turns out to be ...

as someone already said...

a big fat tax cut.

All of the KC-135 Tankers left McConnell Air Force base in Wichita last night. They dont need but a day or two to get their support bases set up. Could be any minute now.

Absolutely right and succinctly put, as usual.

Clinton had his chance to liberate Iraq back in 1998, and he failed to act.

Well now, that -- along with his insistence that we "Mother May I" the UN Security Council before tying our shoes, much less assisting Kuwait -- is something Clinton has in common with Bush I, isn't it?

Neither of whom quite managed to bring to an end -- but rather further embroiled -- our involvement in the Balkans ... the Adults of Bush I's adminstration regretting publicly their handing over the Balkan baton to the Mad Bomber of Sudan when they coulda, shoulda wrapped things up instead.

(Not that Bush II appears to mind overmuch reneging on his promise to pull us out of the ensuing Peacekeeping of an engagement that -- despite all the hype about genocide -- started in order to bomb the Incredibly Shrinking Cox Report off the front page. Guess BOTH Bush I and Albania-Bob Dole were kicking themselves for having stood up during impeachment to argue the actual removal of Clinton would sully the decorum of the semen-stained office.)

It's merely a case of Tweedledum and Tweedledummer from time to time ... particularly where the perpetuation of our presence as Globokop Internationale and Peacekeeper of the Pipelines is concerned.

Thank goodness for the American Public School System (as well as the ability to send old articles down the memory hole) ... else the jig might be up by now.

If you read the original post, the opening premise is wrong - Clinton had his chance to liberate Iraq back in 1998, and he failed to act.

I too admire her succintness but it's a pity she had to stress the "original post" on our failure to liberate Iraq.

Any "original post" discussing that particular subject would have to be about Bush I, not Clinton.

You sure never tire about your hatred for the Bush's.Why do you dwell so much on things that cannot be changed? Such bitterness will age you considerably.

So, you are angry the job wasn't done in '91, yet would have decried Yankee Imperialism while the tanks rolled to Baghdad. The job will be done this time, so you ought to be grateful for GW to be doing what you wished.

Who do you loathe more, GW or Clinton? There are times, Askel, when if Clinton is getting his just desserts, you have to find some way to exercise your own unique standards of moral equivalence and find a way to tarnish Bush.It isn't a sign of honesty, as the parallels are not accurate.

Such bitterness will age you considerably.

LOL ... oh my gosh. You guys never disappoint.

I guess I'll just have to risk the bitterness/aging thing. Beats the alternative that is remaining in High School for life.

Paper lanterns at the ready, Blanche ... time to entertain the troops!

So sorry to see your friend LaBelle no longer a member of this happy community.I'm sure she will be with us all in spirit as long as you are on FR.

Happy Community? Funny, you guys don't give that impression. In fact, you sound like a bunch of smarmy, shrewish crones who patrol the place like vultures turning once bleeding bodies into neatly picked bones as pristine white as blank pages.

After a while, one begins to believe you threatened by the "incoherent" posts of those not interested in staving off the aging process by Happily rationalizing the once-corrupt government's every action as breathlessly reported by the once-untrustworthy liberal media.

I would hope to see the attack occur Friday evening, Eastern Time. This would put commuters out of high-value city targets over the weekend, and have things be mostly over by the time the stock markets open on Monday

QUESTION--- Isn't there an agreement with the UN, that the inspectors are to be given 48 hours to get out of Iraq???

I would think this is irrelevant if they are not IN Iraq when the balloon goes up -- like just after they leave for the weekend...

A very sensible proposal.

BTW - Anyone give any thought that tonight's GW speach may actually be centered around North Korea?

Osama and Iraq would be the obvious picks but what if the NK has heated up big time while we are focused elswhere?

Just a thought.....
