Mansoor Ijaz tells Fox & Friends, "Capture of OBL Only Days or HOURS Away"
Fox and Friends ^ | 3/5/03 | LS

Posted on 03/05/2003 4:12:55 AM PST by LS

Steve Doocey said on Fox this morning that he had just gotten off the phone with Mansoor Ijaz, the Pakistani-born American who has excellent connections to Pakistan, and that Ijaz said that the info they are extracting from the Sheik means that we are days, if not "hours," away from capturing OBL. They have traced his movements; they know where his wives & some kids are (Iran, where they are being "protected"), and think OBL even slipped out of the country and went to Bali prior to that bombing, traveling mostly by water.

Further, last night on O'Reilly, Ijaz also said that he has no doubt that we are using "whatever means necessary" to extract info from the Sheik. O'Reilly said "including torture?" Ijaz said, "Yes."

Dunnigan and others said that the reward money was NOT very useful because no one would live long enough to spend it, and also because they just cannot fathom $10 million. It's beyond them.

How hard is it to fashion a reward that any Afghani or Pakistani can understand? Sheesh!!!!!  So promise  2,000 sheep, 500 cattle, 500 chickens, 3,000 acres of land good for grazing, enough free lumber to build fences and 20 houses (for extended family) and $50,000 per year!

I think you misunderstand my point. I certainly never underestimate an enemy........and your discussion of the internal (Iraqi) conflicts among various factions are certainly sensible and probably quite accurate......but I'm not talking about that, per se'. I am talking about the potential impact on "the will to fight"; purely psychological. You can bet your last dollar that right now, the average Iraqi grunt wants to be anywhere but where he is. He does NOT want to tangle with us; he knows that if he doesn't surrender and surrender early, he risks being blown to little pieces or burned alive. Not a pretty choice.

Add to that any news of Al Quaeda being taken apart.........when most thought them to be "ghosts" who couldn't be caught nor stopped...........and I just wonder if that adds fuel to their mental fires. That's all.

I doubt very much he'd allow himself to be taken alive

Sure he will. This isn't a guy who leads men into battle. He's a coward who cons young fools into giving up their lives.

I hope Ijaz is right. I was one of those who was sure UBL was DEAD. If this is true and we capture him, I will be very glad that he has proved to be a "BUST" in the PR department.

For I am sure that periodic appearances on TV laughing at us and our INCOMPETENT government, would have had a VERY BIG demoralizing effect on our entire country.

Yah, I agree. Just reporting what he said. I think it is more that no one will live to spend it, certainly not in that section of the world. A few years ago, in one of our 1993-related arrests, some informants had to be admitted to the U.S. and given citizenship in addition to the money, due to threats on their lives.

You mean that they are probably a university professor???

You are certainly right on that last point. I don't recall if it was Ijaz or someone else who said it---I think it was him---but the "rags" that pass for "street papers" even were UNUSUALLY silent about the nabbing of the Sheikh, and he thought this indicated that Musharref had gained near-total control over the fundamentalist kooks.

Yah, I appreciate your point on this. I may share it, but I don't think that is Bush's style. They have consistently publicized whoever they arrested/killed, probably thinking it did huge psychological damage to the surviving AQ members.

Judging by his disheveled and filthy messy conditions he was living in

I lived in a small German town among many Muslims. They all live like this from what I could tell. Just disgusting.

Sheer nonsense, to think O.B.L. is being "tracked" is laughable at best. Some people will say anything to get a rise out of some T.V. talking head.

I went to college with a lot of Iranians, and they too were that way. It was a small Baptist college...why do so many of these people go to colleges like this? They said Mohammed went to a small christian college in North Carolina, I believe. Strangely enough, after the Iranians took hostages, they just disappeared over night! POOF!

I believe you are mistaken about Himmler. He masqueraded as an over-age private (not uncommon in the last desperate months of the Reich) in the hopes of escape. But a sharp-eyed Amrican interrogator noticed that his hands seemed far too manicured for someone supposedly engaged in hard labor.

He was then identified, and, while awaiting a medical exam, took the cyonide tablet.

This seems to put a different spin on the story. Of course, it is possible he tried to "negotiate" after being recognized, but I never read about that.

Cordially,

Al

Until proven otherwise, I will continue to celebrate December 17 as Osama's Death Day.

Thats odd.

Why do we allow it, is the question.

Where I lived in Germany, small town-maybe 5,000 people, no stoplights and a bridge into the town that only one car could use at a time-there were probably 1,000 muslims. They would rent out entire apartment houses for themselves and you could always tell who lived there. The Germans keep their yards impeccably clean. These houses would have trash all around the house, old matresses out in the yard, raggy old sheets for curtains, shampoo or soda bottles in the windows. Just gross.

But they always had cigarettes and cell phones, go figure.

If Ijaz was so good then why isn't the Bush Administration using him now. Secret Emissaries know one thing. Blabbing on National TV affects on-going operations.

I have my problems with some of Rumsfield's concepts but he is exactly right when he say's "THOSE WHO DON"T KNOW TALK AND THOSE WHO KNOW DON'T TALK"! Fox's needs to remember this and remember the mistakes it made during the Afghanistan Conflict using Ijaz. ALL Media outlets need to remember that in trying to scoop each other they only end up screwing us as a Country in times like this.

There is a time and place to make news. They need to remember that their are REAL PEOPLE who LIVES are at risk in operations like these. Fox, MSNBC and CNN use these so-called Analysts to do the things they are either ethically can't or are afraid to do. Its the Analysts butt if he is wrong and not the network. But the networks gets the sound bite its looking for to achieve its ratings.
