SAN DIEGO DETECTIVE AIDS IN LACI PETERSON CASE

(03-04-2003) - A private investigator from San Diego made an unusual discovery in Northern California that just might help police in their search for missing Modesto woman, Laci Peterson.

Bill Garcia spotted a chunk of cement by a waterway near Modesto.

“It was interesting because it was the only patch of cement we saw in about 20, 30 miles stretch. And there was a tire track through it,” said Garcia.

Last week, the couple who sold a boat to Laci's husband Scott, said cement residue in the boat wasn't there when they owned it.

Regardless of who might be responsible, Garcia, along with the help of a private field engineer, have made it their mission to find Laci, with no guidance from Modesto Police of Laci’s family.

“Her family needs to know what happened,” said Garcia. “Whether she’s out there and someone’s holding her or whether she’s no longer with us, and we bring her home, or we help in bringing her home.”

Recently, Garcia helped in the search for Danielle van Dam, and also tracked down Phillip Salcedo, the armored car driver accused of stealing money in January.

Where did you get the indication that he did NOTHING? The police indicated that they are responding to the report about the cement. What do you think that means?

The article I read, prior to listening to and watching the video, said nothing about anything he did subsequent to finding the cement and tire track.

The article said that he found the cement with the tire track, and nothing more. That left me with the impression that he did nothing about it.

I have absolutely no idea. I am unaware that the MPD have even found out about this cement except for another FReeper who says the police know about it.

Last night, Diver Dave who lives in the California area I presume saw it on the 10 p.m. news and posted the info to FR. It was around 1 a.m. where I am, I started lurking on other boards looking for info about it and from different boards and different tv stations (5, 7, 13) in the California area, posters where posting to their forums info that was reported. We all were waiting for info to actually show up on the net this morning.

I thought that Garcia did not take any action because the article I read did not mention anything about him taking any action. I would have expected that the media type who wrote the article would have mentioned the action he took but that article did not mention those actions.

No, thank goodness. The guy survived and his wife left him of course. I don't even know if they will press charges against him. He is on treatment for cancer and diabetes. I guess he just wacked out!
