Dammit. I'm startin to wonder if this war will ever happen.

I can see the AP story now:

WASHINGTON, DC -- Jan 19, 2004 (AP) -- President Bush said Iraq has missed it's final, last, ultimate chance, and that war is the only option. Bush said, "We really, really mean it this time," echoing his own statements from March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December of last year.

What gives? Are we serious about this or not? I think it's high time for the Prez to address the people honestly and frankly about what is going on here without repeating the same tired broken record rhetoric he's been spouting for MONTHS (weeks, not months - right?). This is making us look indecisive, weak and foolish.

It's high time that we make a move, or pull out our troops FOREVER.

Oh geeze.......I hope this isn't true. I can handle the end of March before losing it, but if we wait till something beyond April 5, I will start to get very grumpy. I will admit though, starting on April 7 would be a nice birthday present.

The arrest of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has changed everything.

I think the spotlight is going to be on a string of al-Qaeda related arrests between now and the new moon. The military want their dark night operation -- and it looks like they'll get it. And the White House can get maximmum PR from Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Co. as well as those to be arrested.

Either the administration is shirking from its duties to protect the citizens of the United States, or Iraq is just not a threat at all. Every day Hussein is in power is an additional day for Iraq to prepare for the war and develop the BOMB. Every thirld world tin-pot dictator in the world is starting to gain confidence. Next thing we know and nations like Syria and China will follow North Korea's example and laugh in the face of America's "power." One day we will wake up in a world with China on the moon, Islam reigning over Asia, Africa and parts of Europe and America will have subordinated its former might to a powerless international organization. The clock is ticking, yet it seems like no one hears.

The pentagon will be a great source to get the start time for the Iraq war. Why I'm sure they plan on e-mailing Saddam with their exact plans.

Meanwhile, in an apparent quickening of the pace to war, President Bush and Blair are reported by at least one British paper to have decided on a 21-day deadline.

The paper said the two men, who had a 30-minute telephone conversation on Thursday, had agreed to give Saddam Hussein until March 14 to disarm or face war.

Make no mistake.

We can fight this war in the summer.

It will just take on a different form. It could be long months of bombardment and softening up until the weather for troop engagement improves.

Or, it could be such massive, overwhelming bombardment that there will be no need for the troops to be in chemical suits.

And two weeks from now there will be a flash that "now Pentagon planners are targeting the first of May".

Can all of this get any more ludicrous?

1. We will invade Iraq. Only Saddam going into exile would change that, and even then I betcha we'd send in troops to "assist" with the WMD destruction and establishment of a new regime.

2. Just like before Afghanistan, there's a whole bunch of disinformation and strategery being played.

3. This operation is being driven by the tempo of troop and logistical deployments. Calling up the major units around Christmas dictated a March operation. The southern forces should be ready in a week or two. If we are going for a second vote and deployment through Turkey, the end of March would be about right.

4. This is not being driven by the UN or anybody wimping out. The administration is using the deployment period to give the British and to some extent himself some political cover.
