Silence about Joseph´s Tomb Desecration

The government has still said and done nothing about the desecration of Joseph's Tomb in Shechem - and the army is not happy about it. Senior IDF officials say that the government's apathy is costing Israel a price in both the religious and security spheres. They feel that the PA interprets it as a weakness of the Israeli military. Their recommendation is to repair the damage and to ensure permanent Israeli presence - if not of civilians, then at least of IDF forces. IDF officers showed Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz photos of the damage, which occurred between one and three weeks ago, yesterday. The Cabinet discussed the matter last week, but took no decisions.

On the other hand, the Simon Weisenthal Center has submitted an official protest to the United Nations World Heritage Committee regarding the PA Arabs' desecration of Joseph's Tomb. Shimon Samuels, head of the Center's Paris branch, said that in his recent visit to the site, he saw "much destruction, garbage, and pieces of wrecked cars."

I say convert it to a urinal. That would be an appropriate monument to that war-mongering, slave trading, pedophile who founded that sick religon.

"How about some hams lobbed at Al Aqsa?"

I say we chuck a bunch of bacon strips at all the Islamic shrines. Do it at night. By time they wake up the strips will have dried in the morning sun and they will have to scrap them off.

See Oriana Fallaci's "Anger and Shame." As she points out, the Muslim refugees in Florence converted the Duomo into a urinal. Apart from being Florence's cathedral, the Duomo is one of the west's great works of architecture, containing work by Michelangelo. The Muslims were p*ssing on it, and using an adjacent church of similar antiquity as their latrine.

The bemused Florence authorities were doing nothing about the situation, because you have to understand that Muslim culture is different from ours.

Was it "just" the tomb that was desecrated, or the grave/body/bones of Joseph? Either way is unacceptable, but the latter is clearly much worse.

If I were Sharon, I'd send in hundreds of tanks and thousands of troops to guard the site on a constant basis. Any trouble from the crowds, and I'd order the liberal use of live ammunition. Allowing this desecration has been an affront to the religious ideals that are responsible for modern Israel's creation (and I say that as a quite UNobservant Jew), as well as a political and military challenge to the State of Israel. For the sake of his and Israel's negotiating credibility, if nothing else (and there IS much else), Sharon MUST act. It is a source of great shame that he hasn't.

Oh, BTW, as far as retaliation is concerned, I think it is certainly in order. I imagine that the depositing of a large number of pigs, preferably with a full digestive system, into the Al-Aqsa Mosque would deliver the appropriate message - after, of course, the obligatory gunshot to scare the $#%* out of them.

Okay, I'm not trying to be a wisenheimer here, but I would really like to know, is that all they can do is destroy?

Is there anything they have done lately that is a contribution to the world?

I am glad we don't sink to their level. Besides, the Palestinians did this, not the Saudis. An attack on Mecca would offend all Muslims, including those in nations like Turkey, Indonesia, Kuwait, etc... Do you really think that's a good idea?

By "they" do you mean Palestinians in particular or Arabs in general? The Palestinians? I can't think of anything, to be honest. The Arabs as a whole? Yes. You use Arabic numerals every day. I think your car has probably run on, at least in part, gasoline derived from Arab oil.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of hearing about Islamist and/or Arab sensibilities.

They obviously don't care one whit about Jewish and/or Christian sensibilities, and I am completely ready to return the favor.

The day they show in a real way that they are ready to respect me, and the consciences of Christians and Jews the world over, is the day I will change my tune.

Don't hold your breath.

Any explanation of why the [Israeli] government doesn't, apparently, give a s*** about Jewish holy sites being destroyed? If I was in charge, I would have the IDF bulldoze everything within 50 yards of Kever Yosef put up a chain link fence and, yes dammn it, BUILD A BIG FREAKIN' SETTLEMENT.
