New York Suspends Muslim Prison Chaplain Accused of Sending Money to Iraq The Associated Press
AUBURN, N.Y. (AP) - A state prison chaplain charged with helping to illegally send money to Iraq was suspended from his job indefinitely Sunday. Corrections Department spokesman James Flateau said Osameh Al Wahaidy returned to work Sunday at Auburn Correctional Facility, reported his arrest on the federal charges and was immediately suspended without pay from his $57,140-a-year job.
Al Wahaidy, 41, a Jordanian citizen, has been a prison chaplain since 1997.
Federal prosecutors charged Al Wahaidy and three other men on Wednesday with conspiring to violate U.S. economic sanctions against Iraq through a charity called Help the Needy.
The Syracuse-area charity said the money it raised was for Iraqi orphans and poor children, and the men have not been linked to terrorism, U.S. Attorney Glenn Suddaby said. But money transfers to Iraq without federal approval, even for charities, are illegal, Suddaby said.
Jamileh Al Wahaidy said her husband and his co-defendants are highly regarded in the Muslim community and are considered "angels to poor people."

As Chuck Colson points out, there's a much worse danger in having Muslim prison chaplains--the conversion of very dangerous criminals to Islamic terrorism. We saw the potential results with the Washington snipers and the British shoe bomber. Many prisons are filled with Black Muslim gangs and others who are ripe for recruitment.
During the clinton years things got far out of line, with some prisons providing chaplains to Satanists, for instance. That's what happens when you declare that all religions must be treated exactly alike.
The FBI, if it can ever get its act together, should take a close look at every Muslim prison chaplain in America. And prison wardens should also take this danger to heart and be very clear just what kind of message their chaplains are bringing to the prisoners.

Until the Patriot Act, the FBI was forbidden from looking at prison recruitment by Islamic clerics. The Democrats spent so many years cutting the legs off our intelligence agencies it's surprising we weren't all butchered in our beds.

The profiling of a potential terrorist is really rather straightforward if you assume that they hate us and will do us all in if given a chance.
And you cand send over that mope from Maine that was on Russert's show this morning. He really doesn't like America, in my opinion.

What do you mean by "mope from Maine?" Was it one of those nasty teachers?

He was some former US Rep from Maine who was advocating enforcement of the disarmament without war. He was a major league talker who really got off on the sound of his own voice. I can't remember who he was paired off with, but he stood out for talking a LOT without making any sense.

There was an article in the Wall Street Journal on prison imams a while back. Turns out they're almost all approved by crypto-Wahhabi groups.
