War is hell, deal with it

Ther chant from the anti-war folks is that a lot of innocent Iraqi women and children will die. Our president and military vow that civilians targets will be avoid at all costs. But folks, lets face reality.
When was the last time we won a war BIG TIME? To the point that the combatants were defeated to the point that they would never be a threat to us again?
WWII
We fought that war all out. It was them or us. In that war we didn't worry about civilian casualties. In fact the civilians, just as much as the soldiers, were the the target. We were at war with the Japanese and the Germans...all of them. We won by not only defeating their armed forces but the civilians who supported them. Thats how you defeat a nation at war with you. I'm sorry that innocent women and children have to die. That's is not our problem, it's the leader of their county who is responsible for them. They waged war on us, they die too.
On 9/11/02 our civilians died. Why should we worry about theirs.
I worry about a campaign in Iraq where we don't inflict some toll on the civilians in Bagdad. They need to know that their cowardice and complicity brought this fate. They need to know that they are responsable for this madman ruling this country... and there is a better way. Our troops need to be compasionate. But compasionate to a defeated yet repentant nation, not a nation rolled over because of a lame army
If our troops roll into Bagdad without some degree of respect from the civilian populace, we might be there for a long time. We will be a big target for non-military (terrorist) retribution. Need we be reminded of the lesson of our "Peace Keepers" in Beriut in 1983? We need to demand from them that there is better way to live other than by tyrants and terrorists.
I hope this is not to barbarous for all but this is war...we MUST win. War is hell...deal with it.

Hey, if you're so fired up about this war, take off your lab coat and march on down to the local recruiter's office and take the oath. My old-22-years-in-service butt is getting exceedingly tired of listening to folks who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.
War and combat is not something to just "deal with". (And, yeah, I'm willing to take some flames over this).

Oh, I wouldn't worry too much. Our military and admistration now have to use propaganda with our weak-kneed populace that they did not have to use in WWII.
They will do the job as necessary, never fear.

Targeting civilians is what terrorists do.
And, just so you know, the attack on the United states occured on Sept. 11, 2001....not 2002.

It is one of my basic beliefs that there are no innocent civilians. That has been true for at least half a century (and probably longer). Just who the hell does everyone think our nuclear weapons were aimed at? Does anyone think that any of our potential enemies care one hoot in hell about our civilians?
In order to win a war, you have to destroy the enemy's will to wage war. If it means causing civilian casualties, so be it.

BTW I can't play football, hockey or pro baseball, yet I demand that the Phildelphia Eagles win the Super Bowl, the Flyers win the Stanley Cup, and most of all the Phillies win the World Series.
Plus I'm a Republican. I want an end to high taxes, abortion, and Hillary Clinton and Ted Kenney's presence on the Senate floor...NOW!

I know that. War is immoral. Something to be avoided. But onced engaged you must win at all costs. There is no morality in war, only victory.
