An hour ago on C-SPAN's "Book TV" uber-puke Eric Alterman went on a semi-coherent tirade about Free Republic.
While in the process of flacking his book..."The Myth of Liberal Bias" (or sumpin like that), he claimed that, during the Florida recount, the saint-like members of this forum posted the phone numbers and home addresses of the Florida Supremes for the expressed purpose of harassment and/or "whatever". The "whatever" was obviously the suggestion of violence.
He also said Free Republic was repsonsible for the flood of Republican activists who descended on the state and therefore was responsible for the Bush presidency.
This is one powerful place, Gumbas. Congratulate yourselves...the left-wing bows to your awesome strength.
The source of his tirade seemed to be his book which might be worth checking out. Just figure out how to do it without actually paying money for it.
Another fact he flung at his tiny, badly-dressed book store audience, was that people came to Free Republic and stayed for 5+ hours, making us an unbeatable force since Liberals suffer from ADD and can't stay with anything longer than the average bowel movement. (I paraphrased that last bit)

According to the liberals, when 65,000 people march in San Franciso against President Bush, it is "democracy in action", and the "will of the people". When 1,000 people call CNN, it is a "right wing conspiracy". When 10,000 people protest the election in Florida, it is "frightning".And when 80 people protested the attempted rigging of the illegal recount in Miami-Dade County by the canvassing board, "a whiff of fascism was in the air."

While the RNC sent out the initial request, Free Republic was like an amplifier.
Just got here and have not read the whole thread, but that is a great line.

You're right. From the way he talked, it sounded like his book was just a hastily thrown-together attempt to answer Goldberg and Coulter. We ought to get a little FR betting pool going on here - how many days before this dweeb's book ends up in the remainder bins at 3 bucks a copy?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I JUST NOW posted on another thread, that I heard a bump at the front door...no one's coming home, the dog's in the livingroom...
Oh oh....Maybe they ARE out there!
NO ARNE, I wasn't being a smart aleck. There's a thread/page/something here on FR that shows the number of hits or something. I've tried to figure out that thing and apparently have been looking in the wrong place? I wasn't being a smarty.
Now....as to the bumps in the night at the front door. Be right back...

Liberals suffer from ADD and can't stay with anything longer than the average bowel movement. But they have so many of them.
Most of which wind up becoming the law of the land.

Hi BG. Still running from the cops?
To: Brad's Gramma
Yeah, geez, missed a word there in 201. I've been lurking(?) for a couple of weeks or so. I was layed off recently and have had more time to read and found out about FR reading 'Best of the Web Today', that's WSJ, Opinion Journal. Very funny!
Check out my post from this morning and leave a reply if you're so inclined;
