More than hundred 300 men and women undressed in a warm Saturday morning in Santiago to stage a festive protest against war in Iraq.
Police watched the unusual protest appearing even to share the humor of the demonstrators in a park in downtown Santiago.
The humorous mood did not last long. After about one hour, the demonstrators - some of them dressed again, others sill naked - marched several blocks to a plaza in front of the presidential palace of La Moneda, where they tried to repeat their massive naked protest.
Police quickly sent the water truck to disperse them. An officer explained that the naked demonstration had only been authorized to be held at the park, not in front of the palace
About a dozen demonstrators were detained, including some naked women - who were taken away by female police officers.

The best way to disperse these naked protesters would be a big vat of honey and some of those Crazy Acid-Spitting Australia ants.

When you capture an enemy, you strip him, to deprive him of any means to hide weapons and to humiliate them.
Here, these people humiliate themselves to make peace.
I would rather dress for war.

To protest the crushing of the Prague Spring in 1968 by the USSR, a student went to Wencelas Square in the center of Prague, doused himself in petrol and set himself alight. The message he sent was that it was preferable to die in agony than live under the bootheel of the Soviets.
These idiots on the other hand are sending the message that it is preferable to have some goosebumps on a late Winter day than go to war with Iraq. Colour me unimpressed and unmoved.
Regards, Ivan

Is this really the road to peace??
With a sign that reads 'PEACE' on his body, a naked demonstrator protests a possible war in Iraq (news - web sites) during demonstrations in which hundreds undressed in Santiago, Chile, Saturday, March 1, 2003. (AP Photo/Roberto Candia)
