I wish you'd stuck USS in front of the respective carrier names, otherwise it sounds like Nimitz is a bathroom attendent and Lincoln just finished taking care of bathroom business!!!

The post was taken directly from the Navy Times, so your gripe is with them, not the poster.

I seriously doubt that the Navy was intending to show any disrespect. Instead they are using simple jargon, where all reasonable people who read the Times, and are up to speed on the ships, understand what is being said.

You are also referencing the headline, not the article itself. In the article they clearly say "the carrier, Lincoln or the carrier Nimitz.

I know all of the carriers by name, CVN-?? number and plenty of facts about Naval weapons systems to make most people blue in the face.
