Good old Doofus. I bet he's thinking "If only I had had the brains to address the electricity generating shortage in a rational way. But, hey, I DID successfully dump the blame for that mess on well chosen scapegoats. Now, who can be set up to take the rap for this fiasco?"

This might explain why the teachers I know for the most part are ready to tar and feather Davis and then really get mad at him.

$8.3 billion raised from increasing taxes on shoppers, smokers and top earners. The top one-quarter of 1 percent of the state's income taxpayers - just 32,000 people - already pay nearly one-third of all state income taxes. When I saw this I fell out of my chair.
I don't suppose these 32,000 "rich" people are passing on those taxes to consumers via higher cost of good and services?

Hi Norm
As a conservative Republican Hispanic living in Kalifornia, hey, doesn't that qualify me for protection under the endangered species act? ;-) , I hope the recall effort fails. Before the flame-throwers come out, let me explain.
If Davis stays in office, we can blame this hot, steaming, nugget of dung that is the state economy/budget on him, and him alone. We could run a box of rocks against Davis and win.
If the recall were successful, the new Governor would have less than a full term to try and straighten out this mess. If the replacement is a Dem, then great. We can say that two Dems tried to fix the mess and weren't able to do it, making the next regular election a shoo-in for Republicans. However, if a Republican wins, and is unable to affect any substantial changes or improvements in a short period of time, the Dems and press will have a field day. The budget crisis will suddenly shift from something the Dems created to something the Republicans made worse. Remember the Dems are the best at shifting blame.
Plus the recall will give the Dems and idea of how many votes need to be manufactured to stay in power.
Boy how I hope I'm wrong, but I'm and optimistic pessimist. That's someone who is absolutely sure he's going to get screwed.
Best Regards
Sergio
