HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) -- Rep. Dick Gephardt of Missouri is labor's guy, a longtime, crucial ally on trade and about everything else. But whether he is labor's guy for president is less certain.

Gephardt is one of five Democratic presidential candidates who trekked to Florida this week to woo labor leaders attending an AFL-CIO executive council meeting. The others have come and gone, but Gephardt cleared his calendar for three days and has become part of the scenery here at the Diplomat Hotel and Resort.

Labor has figured out that this milquetoast can't possibly win. Furthermore, labor leaders are attracted to the most radical of D's, while the rank-and-file are more conservative. But as always, in the end their leaders will ignore the membership because they can ....while still taking their money.

Labor to their members: just shut up and take it.

>>I am the only candidate who can win in the industrial heartland of the country," he said. "That's where George Bush will be beaten."<<

Dear Mr. Gephardt
You have never held statewide office here in Missouri. I don't think you could carry your own state in a general election.
Also, I'd like to thank you for the gerrymanding of the eastern Missouri Congressional district taking me out of Todd Akins 2nd District and putting me in Lacy Clay's 1st District (sarcasm)
Thank you for acting like Joe Stalin Jr. in removing two Confederate soldiers battle flags that flew over Historical sights here in my state without even having a debate on the subject. (sarcasm)
Thank you for not fighting NAFTA when Bill Clinton let it become law. (sarcasm)
Thanks for trying to legalize millions of lawbreakers who entered this country illegaly thus driving down working class peoples wages.(extreme sarcasm)
Thanks for fighting Right-to-carry in 1998.(extreme sarcasm)

By the way, I will not be voting for you.(no sarcasm)

Thank you for your time.

A 25 year UNION member.

Thank you

Could Gephart even carry his district
in November 2004.
I guess we will never know.

I agree that it is highly unlikely that Gephardt would get the Democratic nomination.
But just for fun, lets say he did. As of now, I would say he would carry the 3rd District here in Mo. but would loss the state.
This District went for Gore in 2000. Its been gerrymandered for the democrats.

Yes, he most cetainly could. The district is too Democrat to be within GOP firing range.

I'm Union... and I don't think it will matter who is in office, their actions will be driven by Big Business. The money these businesses will throw at these political puppets is INCREDIBLE.

I too am Union. Voted against Gore. The Dems anti family social agenda, anti hunting/anti firearm agenda was enough to get me to cross the line. In a newsletter they polled members about why so many had crossed ranks and voted against Democrats.
The above issues were commonly mentioned as reasons.
Any endorsement by me for Gebhardt is on my hankee. What has he really done for Missouri? Nothing but pout.

While appearances can be deceiving Gep doens't look like a president to me. But then he doesn't look like a Congressman either.

I thing the battle with Union bosses is just heating up and would not be surprised to see the Beck decision implemented.
That will cripple the RATs.

Gephart's the only person on the planet who
thinks he simply left being the Democrat House
leader to run for President. He gotted kicked
out because of his failures. He is a loser.
And he is a man with principles of any nature.
He is example of the kind low life scum that
every honest person who cares about this country
whether they are liberl, moderate or conservative)
should agree that his kind should be driven form
office.
