Pictures of the 2/22/2003 "Support Our Troops" Rally in Silverdale WA are posted

As the headline says, I just uploaded (quite) a number of photos from the rally, available here. There is a little bit of commentary; call it my report on the event.

To tell the truth, though, for all my efforts the photos just don't quite do it justice. You had to have been there.

Wonderful. Makes me so choked up to see this. After all those ugly protests its great to finally get to see all the American flags and the wonderful faces of the REAL AMERICANS just makes my day!

It was a beautiful sight, I drove through honking several times, and would have given my eye teeth to be amongst you. Couldn't get out though, my recently broken leg, doesn't allow much mobility. Brought tears to my eyes, long live America, and may God bless us.

BTTT LOL Once again we all missed each other, plus a couple new FReepers were going to attend as well. If you all are coming back to McChord in 2 weeks let's decide on a time and meeting site so we can introduce ourselves! :) BTW, Cyber, so your ping thing! And here's one from Camp Murray for color!

Jeremiah -- THAT's what I forgot to report on! The constant cacaphony (or was that just sweet music?) of the horns of those
of you driving by.

BTTT Because of the Lincoln Day breakfast I didn't get there until 1:00. It had thinned out by them but still hundreds were there. Horns were playing like a school band - rhythmic, punctuated, and spirited. :) Traffic under the bridge was light so we turned our attention to the hundreds of cars coming in and out of the mall. Official estimate of crowd: 2500. Appeasers: 6. ROTFLOL About time they were outnumbered! Angelwood, this isn't my report but there are some early pictures in and lots of comments. Enjoy!

Later during the rally the sun came out and it was actually warm! "Congested area" LOL One policeman told me he was a little "bored" because we didn't give him "anything to do" :) I told him we weren't even going to leave a piece of trash- he said he really appreciated us and was having a good time.

Boy I wish I could have been there! I'm planning on being at the March 1st (unless you folks changed the date without telling me) event at Camp Murray after I go shooting in Chehalis. I took the day off special just for the freep and the shooting is just an added bonus.

"Our" March 1 hasn't materialized, no problemo. This coming Saturday, March 1 the Operatoion Suppor Our Troops Rally will be in Everett. Closer to you anyway. The next Saturday, March 8th, the same big group will come down to McChord again. Ern, you can go to www.ron-siddell.com to get the exact meeting place fo the Everett rally. Expect a large, fun, spirited group to be there with you - 1000-2000! I won't be there because it is too far. I'll hang out near McChord instead. Please write up a rally report for us and photos too! :)

Great job! I wanted to be there today, but I came down with strep throat and my daughter is sick as well. It looks like you guys had a great time. Is there another rally planned and if so, where will it be?

Guys, it was so FUN! I was so excited to be there, but bummed that I didn't get to meet any of you. :) I had a blast though and it was great to hear of a 2000+ turnout!!!

Can't wait for the upcoming rallies! I had a blast!

And thanks for the ping Eala!

I told him we weren't even going to leave a piece of trash

Did you notice how, in one of the pictures, the crowd kept to the sidewalk despite there being a section of the street in front of the sidewalk blocked off from traffic? Methinks there might be an innate difference between "us" and "them" -- beyond our take on certain issues.

Official estimate of crowd: 2500. Appeasers: 6.

This is just great! One can only hope that this will be the new trend in America.

Now if only the news outlets will report it.
