I think you responded to the wrong FReeper. I'm not a pilot. As far as minimizing ones tax burden, I'm not sure how pilots are treated, however, I do know that states like to get their hands on money any way possible, which is why pro atheletes have to pay state income taxes based on how many games they play in each state.
