Come one, come all, the rally is on March 8, 2003, noon to 2pm!! March 8? D'oh! We've had plans from months back with my family in Rhode Island. I'll see what I can do to possibly change the date so we can make the rally.
Thanks for your efforts in bringing FReepers and the VFW together on this one, Race. This sounds like it's going to be a great rally!

Did you happen to see Channel 3 Eyewitness News tonight at 11? They actually gave quite a bit of coverage to a pretty big pro-war, pro-Bush, pro-US Troops rally in Tampa, FL. The first sign I saw in the crowd had FreeRepublic.com across the bottom! (Yes!)
They then switched coverage to some peace rally... a handful of unwashed types lurking around some state building (I forgot where, I was still so elated at the counter-peace rally coverage). Methinks perhaps that weekend anchor guy at WFSB is a conservative...
I've searched FR, but so far haven't found any info on a pro-US rally today in Tampa. I'll keep looking...

I heard the leftist rally was in New Haven, right outside of Yale on the green.
Doesnt surprise me there.
We need to have the College Republicans support us!!

I can tell you from our experience here in Colorado that the VFW is an honor to FReep with. Our VFW Post 1781 has been on the corner having a Support Our Troops Rally every Saturday for 15 months! They wear their hats and jackets, bring real classy flags and banners and the public loves these guys and gals. It is real hard not to give a honk to a WWII vet standing in the snow with his cane.
This makes the unwashed bongo drum players on the other corner look even more stupid than normal. I will pass the word to our VFW that this is spreading, they will be very proud. Thank You for your efforts!

I heard the leftist rally was in New Haven, right outside of Yale on the green. That's right... that's the coverage I saw last night on Channel 3 - it was on the green in New Haven. I still cannot believe how Channel 3's coverage was tilted so favorably toward the "Support Our Troops" rally in Tampa, FL. I still haven't been able to find any FReepers who took part in that one. I am positive that I saw a sign with FreeRepublic.com on it though - it was shown on camera TWICE.
I'm still working on changing the date of my family's gathering (now scheduled for March 8). I should know sometime this week. In the meantime, I'm going to encourage every friend and family member I have to join us at this rally... let's get those numbers out, and make this rally as big as the December 2000 LIEberman/New Haven one!!! :-)
