P&G to air Spanish-language Crest ad during Grammys

Procter & Gamble Co. plans to air a Spanish-language advertisement for Crest toothpaste during the upcoming Grammy Awards, making it the first of its kind to reach a general audience of a nationally broadcast television show.

The 30-second ad will be for Crest Whitening Plus Scope, a toothpaste P&G bills as both whitening and breath-freshening. Called "Good Bye Kiss," the will be aired in Spanish with no subtitles. It shows a young Hispanic couple in their daily morning routine. As the husband rushes out the door to work, he realizes that he cannot get enough of his wife's "refreshing goodbye kisses." The ad, which was created by Bromley Communications of San Antonio, Texas, has aired before on Hispanic networks.

The ad is part of P&G's campaign to reach out to Hispanic consumers, a minority group that is now the largest in the United States. P&G said it sees the consumers as increasingly important in light of the fact that Hispanics make up more than 12 percent of the population in states such as California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, New York and New Jersey.

"This spot is just one example of the many ways we are connecting with Hispanic consumers, including a variety of outreach programs addressing relevant concerns and issues facing Hispanic families," said Rob Steele, P&G's president of North America.

In addition to Crest, Cincinnati-based P&G manufactures and markets a variety of well-known consumer brands, including Tide, Downy, Charmin and Folgers.

Whos gonna watch this pathetic display of ego stroking anyway? I heard all these video stars posing as musicians are going to turn this show into a massive pro-tyranny aka "anti-war" rally anyway. I think I`ll skip it...I don`t feel like puking that night.

And the truth is:

P&G said it sees the consumers as increasingly important in light of the fact that illegal aliens make up more than 12 percent of the population in states such as California, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, New York and New Jersey. And as the epic waves of illegal aliens spread though out the rest of America, our ad campaign will continue to reach out to those new markets as well.

HEY you are in the United States of America, speak Spanish like the rest of us.

on the other hand, is sounds like a "refreshing" commercial where a wife is being attractive to her husband. In other words the husband is not an idiot.

Note to self - Never again buy Crest, Tide, Downy, Charmin, or Folgers.

There was big reasons, and small ones too, for leaving the country after 32 good years.

One of the small ones was, I rejected the ever-growing Hispanic irredentism and was disgusted by the cave-in by the
majority.

(The main driver, though, was low-cost retirement in Asia)

I read an article a few weeks back about how "the hispanic culture is the hot new trend". This explains the need for this kind of garbage.

My letter to Proctor and Gamble:

Dear sirs,

I’m writing to congratulate you on your all-Spanish commercial during the Grammy Awards.

Being a fifth generation American, I don’t speak any Spanish, so the commercial made no sense to me and made me feel alienated in my own country.

Apparently, P&G has decided to forsake the 240 million Americans who don’t speak Spanish in favor of the 40 million who do.

You can rest assured that neither my family nor I will ever buy another P&G product again.  Bounty Paper Towels, Pampers, Cheer Detergent, Secret, and Ivory Dish Detergent are all on our black list.  This coming from a consumer who remained loyal to the P&G brands through the moon and stars controversy.

Further, I’ll be circulating this letter amongst friends and family as well as posting it on the Internet.

Good luck selling to your “International Market” that resides here in my country’s borders, but has chosen not to learn English.  I’m sure you’ll be a fantastic failure.
