War ends the rule of evil tyrants who practice communism, facism, stalinism, and slavery....until they rear their evil head again....and WAR is the last resort as you can see....since we've given ole Saddam 12 years to end his tyrannical rule of Iraq.....so, now is the time for WAR!

greymaign attempted to make the following point, "Not [sic] let me ask again...did War END Slavery, Fascism and Communism?"
pedant [pudnt]
n.
  1. a person who relies too much on academic learning or who is concerned chiefly with insignificant detail.
  2. Archaic. a schoolmaster or teacher.
[via Old French from Italian pedante teacher; perhaps related to Latin paedagogus {pedagogue}]
pedantic [pdæntk]
adj.
pedantically adv.

So. Let's see if you can understand this: By most accounts, the slavery in the USA ended after the Civil War, due to the insistence of the North. Knowing this, most rational persons would agree that war ended slavery. Of course, one should add, if they are as pedantic as you seem to be, that it only ended it in the USA, and as a side effect of the aforementioned war.

Secondly, another rational, non pedantic person can easily realize that World War II ended the then-current threat of German, Japanese, and Italian fascism.
Of course, to assuage your obviously constant preoccupation with minutae, the person would have to also add that it only ended the '30's and '40's version of fascism, and that some few people were left alive who adhered to fascism, and that many people were born since World War II, which America entered in December 7th of 1941, not the 8th, because the Declaration of War stated that the US had been in a "state of war" since the day before which was December 7th of 1941, which was referenced above. Those people who were born since the end of that war, World War II, and perhaps some who were born during and before; some of those have become fascists, even though Italy, Japan, and Germany are not fascistic governments anymore primarily due to losing the aforementioned World War II.

As for the collapse of Communism as a collective superpower, a series of conflicts including the Soviet expulsion out of Afghanistan by proxies of the USA, weakened and demoralized the Soviet Union. Concurrently with these brushfire wars, the Cold War (a real war in the classic sense - read your Sun Tzu and von Clausewitz) did indeed end Communism as an active power in world affairs.

Now. Do you understand that sign at all? Or are you going to pull up some other minute grammatical and/or diagrammatical "error" in that sign and attempt to hang whatever "point" you have on that dirtspeck of an "untruth"??

Thank you for very succinctly stating exactly what I was attempting to formulate for a post before I read yours.....

No problem, and welcome!

at the moment I do not think all the facts are in.

They never will be. I have thought there were enough for twelve years. He should never have been left in power after Kuwait. Back then diplomacy demanded it with voices from everywhere saying to leave him. The only voice not heard, or should I say listened to, was from the inside. We (the whole coalition) left too many at Saddam's mercy, which he has none.

Will post Saddam Iraq be an easy time, I doubt it. But I also doubt that it could be worse for long.

greymaign wrote:"Republicanus_Tyrannus: Enforcing thought crime since 2003-02-15. "

I did no such thing, nor have I inferred that I was accusing you of "thoughtcrime". Your accusation was wholly unwarranted and extremely insulting. You, however, are disrupting a discussion through meaningless objections to a single sign's wording - and that is usually the modus operandi of leftists (attempting to stall or obscure a point through obsessive objections to irrelevant minutae).

That is why I said you were disrupting.

I rebuke you for your reprehensible insult. I have yet to see how you are not being a disruptor, greymaign. You are following a set and well-known pattern with your obsession with a single image of a single joking sign. That convinced and still convinces me that I offered no insult. Indeed, I believe I hit the nail right on the head.

Actually, the sign says:

"Except for ending Slavery, Fascism, Nazism and Communism War Has Never Solved Anything"

Not let me ask again...did War END Slavery, Fascism and Communism?

Perhaps you were reading to quickly, this is what I said:

Read the slogan again. It says "War Has Never Solved Anything".

The sign was a rebuttal to the idiotic slogan.

In fact, as proven on this thread, war HAS solved "something".

It really isn't that hard to understand.

The protestors moms must be so proud. I can hear them now... My little sweetie, a mouthpiece for Saddam, so proud I could bust!

I like Todd Conor's new goatee, very handsome.

Child slavery in post Civil War America? Do tell! Do tell! Show me an image of a sign on a Child Slavery Auction House, or Kid Slave Shop. Prove it.

Prove that there were other "kinds of slavery" as well. Name them. Illustrate them. Show how they were legal. Describe the bills of sale. Show a court case for restitution of loss for a slave escaping.

Prove your assertions. Provide sources. Describe in detail the legal status of each "kind(s) of slavery". Describe the mercantile organization to the legal sale of humans in America after the Civil War. Show me a freaking receipt.

You can't, because you are guilty of hyperbole and puffery in your "arguments". There were no other "kinds of slavery". Unless you stretch "slavery" to mean "sort of low paid work".

With that specious reasoning, I suppose you could say that baseball diamonds are actually made of herring.

I did not claim that war ended violence against women in Afghanistan. I said that it ended a ruling regime which enforced violence against women as a policy.

I did not imply that slavery had been wiped out all over the world. It is, however, no longer a legally protected institution in the United States.

Police work never ends all crime, but it puts particular criminals and criminal organizations out of business. Medicene cannot end all disease, but it can sometimes cure Mrs. O'Leary's particular ailment. It would not make sense to say that since we can't end all crime we should just turn the streets over to criminals; it would be wicked to say that since we canot end all disease we should let Mrs. O'Leary die.

Leftists make this sort of argument because they believe that if we all embraced socialism we could end all fundamental human evils. That's why they usually can't be distracted from the revolution long enough to give a damn about Mrs. O'Leary gasping for breath on the sidewalk -- just as the leftists who demonstrated last weekend couldn't be bothered to give a damn about the people of Iraq.

Regime change in Iraq will not settle all the region's problems, or change the fundamental dynamics of human life. But Iraqis won't be living under Saddam Hussein, and Saddam will not be sitting there in control of an arsenal of WMDs of unknown size and types. That much a war can accomplish, and that's good enough for me.

It's not about the oil...it's about silicon. And besides, they're better-looking than leftists.

(Hey, I was just looking for an excuse to post this picture.)

I was really p.o'd at these people. I still am quite angry but thanks to them I think Bush will be able to make his case to the UN. Saddam won't destroy his missiles because he thinks the world will stand beside him. Thanks guys. I'll even sing a round of Koombyah tonight!
