I wonder if these cities and counties, who are trying to pass these (or have done so)....are trying to find some underhand way to get around the laws that protect Reservists or Guardsmen who are activated? (refering to the pro-Saddam resolution first proposed)

Dear Chairman Grippa:

It has recently come to my attention that one or more members of the Leon County Board of County Commissioners is planning to present a resolution to the Commission in opposition to any war that this country may face in Iraq. If adopted, this resolution would then be sent to the President of the United States.

On behalf of myself and the many other military veterans at the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to strongly state my opposition to any such resolution. Currently, there are six Leon County Sheriff’s Office employees deployed overseas in defense of our country’s freedom, with several more anticipated leaving in the near future.

The events of 9-11 cannot be a faded memory for any of us. It wasn’t that long ago that our President declared that we are at war against terrorism and I would only hope that at a time such as this, we seek to unite rather than divide. While we in the law enforcement profession fight the battle against terrorism on the home front, our men and women of the armed services are in harms way overseas.

As the Chairman of the Region II Domestic Security Task Force of North Florida, I would strongly urge the Board of County Commission to dismiss any resolution that does not support the efforts of our military and the President of the United States. Rather, we should stand united behind our President and support the brave members of the military who may pay the ultimate price for our freedom.

Come on you guys, throw him a bone....Like others around the world, he's asking Saddam to peacefully step down from power, give up his WMD's, and free his people. I just know this is going to work. A guy who is a brutal dictator, an oppressor, I'm sure he'll hear all these people around the world and decide to step down. He may have killed members of his own family, have a rapist on the government payroll, among others things. He sounds like a reasonable man to me...

Where do some of these people come from? This guy must not watch the news much, we've been trying to work thru the U.N. for how long now? These nieve idiots scare me almost as much as people like Saddam

I grew up across the street from Tony Grippa in Malverne, New York. Happy to see he is "representin'" the GOP in Democratic Talahassee.
