Former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun is to announce the creation of her presidential exploratory committee today at the University of Chicago, where she graduated law school.

Moseley-Braun, the Illinois Democrat and former ambassador to New Zealand, said she will campaign as a "peace dove and a deficit hawk.''

She makes a national announcement today in Washington and will appear at a Democratic National Committee forum Friday for 2004 presidential candidates.

There are now eight Democrats who have either declared or are exploring presidential runs.

I will be changing my voter registration to Democrat in 2004. My state does not have open primaries so you have to be registered in the party. I will vote for Al Sharpton in the Democraptic primary.

Imagine Al at least getting enough votes to land a prime-time national TV (all the liberal networks) speaking spot on Friday night at the Demomaniacs National Convention. Can it get any better?

I’m sending a couple bucks to his campaign, I’m voting for him, and I hope to plant a yard sign out by the road. Think of it … lapel buttons, tracts for windshields in the parking lot, posters, etc.. Heck, maybe I could be his county coordinator.

This is going to be fun! The ultimate Freep. Will you join me?

wonder if the number of people attending will be greater than the number of primary candidates. or will both attendees end up actually voting for her?

As a University of Chicago grad, allow me to say that this woman is a shill for the DNC power structure and a strawwoman to be used against Sharpton.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Several things Sen. Carol Mosely-Braun will not talk about during her announcement to run for President:

1. The Senator has been out of office since 1998. If she were a sucessful politican , she would still be in the Senate .

2. Sen. Moseley-Braun spent $6.7 million to win the Senate race in 1992, the Federal Election Commission opened an investigation into the finances of her campaign, which faced allegations of runaway spending. In addition to taking out a $10,000 loan to pay personal expenses, she and her campaign manager withdrew $69,000 on credit cards. An FEC audit ultimately concluded that her bookkeeping practices were sloppy , but did not levy a fine or penalty against her. Curious...

3. While a Sentator, she was famous for coddling African dictators most notably, Nigerian despot Sani Abacho (a real-life blood for oil story).

I have no faith that these issues will be raised by the press during Sen. Mosely-Braun's campaign.

The Senator has been out of office since 1998. If she were a sucessful politican , she would still be in the Senate .

Richard Nixon lost the presidential race to JFK in 1960. Two years later he ran and lost for governor of California, and declared that he'd never run for office again. So he was a two-time loser, out of office for eight years, when he beat Hubert Humphrey for the presidency in 1968.

Not to say the Mosely-Braun has a snowball's chance in hell, but the mere fact she isn't a sitting senator wouldn't seem to be the determining factor.
