Built entirely by students at Forest Grove High School, in Forest Grove, Oregon - Automotive Programs and Members of the Motor Sports Club.

The student's built the car from the ground up in 19 weeks after collecting cans and bottles and other fund raisers.

The car is being raffeled off February 27, 2003 at halftime at the basketball game at aproximately 8:30 pm. Tickets are $ 25.00 each and avaliable from the high school activities office or any Motorsports Club member.

800 tickets will be sold and as of October 28, 2002 there were 400 already sold. Proceeds will go to fund the next project car, a 1932 Ford Low Boy Roadster and to provide scholarship money for automotive students...(snip).

Pity they don't have a web page. Might be fun to get in on that.

(Now, I WILL fly to Oregon myself if they restore a DeLorean DMC-12 ...)

You could probably call and order a ticket. I did. Also, there's an email address.

I dream of summer drives in that roadster! Ohhhhhhhh!

Nice-looking ride, that. I have a special fondness for the '30 Model A though. I helped a friend restore one for a show in Arlington TX. a few years ago - it took Best in Show. I did the headlight housings (sanded and buffed with jeweler's rouge), instrument panel (disassemble, clean/repair, and repaint), and foot pedals and helped with the rest. My mother reupholstered it.

We finished work on the car literally with 15 minutes to spare before the judging started. A water leak sprung up somewhere under the car. We all scrambled around like madmen trying to find it, but to no avail. The car's owner covered a mop bucket in black cloth and shoved it under there to catch the drip, and we all hoped like hell nobody would notice. Apparently, they didn't.

Having said all that, I'd never drive one though. I'd have a coronary if a pigeon so much as pooped on it when I was behind the wheel.

Nice car that brings back a few memories. Looks like they used a '32 Ford radiator shell instead of a Model T radiator.

The '32 Ford is still a styling classic for a mass produced car. And there is no radiator housing and grille more beautiful than a '34 Ford.

With a 2-speed automatic? What a waste.

This is a very pretty car, although I would have gone with flame red paint rather than purple.

The web page you linked lists the power train as "Although this is a Ford body car it is powered by a 375 horsepower Chevrolet 350 cid engine, with a 2 speed Power Glide transmission."

What's with a two-speed transmission? Would that not limit top speed. Why would they want a two-speed transmission?

I always thought a Turbo-Coupe 2.3 litre and 5 speed would be a classy powerplant in such a vehicle..

With a 2-speed automatic? What a waste.

Back when my dad was a youngster, he had a 55 Bel Air with a small block V8 and a PowerGlide. He claims it was the fastest car in Young County, Texas at the time ... until he fell asleep at the wheel and went off a bridge.
