LOS ANGELES(AP) - Hundreds of people, many with youngsters in tow, rallied Monday to demand that Gov. Gray Davis spare child care programs from the state budget ax.
Day care operators, former welfare mothers and urban activists waved paper cutouts of children, some dressed in baby clothes, at the downtown protest.

They all voted for Davis. Bet 90% of them can't read and 90% wouldn't tell you who the father was (pimp?). However, if they went to skewl they could prevent this from happening again.

This may very well be true... However not having the mother working is not the answer. And I, for one, don't want to see them aborted. I would, however, vote for involentary steralization of these women.

Anika Morton, a 22-year-old single mother, receives free day care from a state-subsidized private center for her youngsters, ages 2 and 10 months.
"It gives me pride so that I can basically look at my kids and say, 'I work and I take care of you.' ... where I know I'm not a mother at home sitting on welfare," Morton said.
Without free day care she would be unable to afford day care on her $1,600-a.m.onth salary and would have to quit her job, she said. Someone tell me how a 22-year-old female can get pregnant, twice!, without a male? Why isn't the male around to support the female and his progeny? Why does MY TAX DOLLARS go to support child care for this woman, who I have never ever met in my life? My tax dollars should be going to programs that I use.

What we're witnessing is the beginning of the end of the nanny gov't gravy train that's been making life just wonderful for a whole host of welfare queens, illegals, junkies, etc. Now that various cutbacks are looming across the board both statewide and federally we about to see the rubber hit the road along with the evaporation of the "welfare good life". What's going to happen when all these
folks stop receving all their "bennies" or as they say "people with nothing to lose....aint got nuthin to lose" Thank God for Homeland(In)Security!

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. Wanna bet what year a classic "Welfare Queen" program like section 8 ends in California, or any other state. I claim: not in my life. It's permanant. This is a bump in the road. Expect more taxes.

The government needs to get out of child care.
