Free to Good Home: My Collection of Conservative Books

Posted on 02/17/2003 11:20:34 AM PST by applemac_g4

Hello everyone; I'm busily downsizing my life right at the moment preparing to go to grad school and live out of the trunk of my car (well, not really).

But things that take up space are on the chopping block. One of them is my collection of conservative books. I've read them all, and they've been collecting dust. Yes, it's not a huge collection by any means, but it's there.

Rather than Ebay them to someone who is probably going to resell them or have a garage sale, I'm going to give (yes, all you have to do is reimburse me for shipping) to some lucky Freeper.

The titles are:

"The China Threat" - Gertz "Betrayal" - Gertz "When the Empire Strikes Out" - Goetz "When Nations Die" - Black "The O'Reilly Factor" - Bill O'Reilly "The Way Things Ought to Be" - Rush "See I Told You So" - Rush "Illiberal Education" - Dinesh D'Souza "And That's the Way It Isn't" - Media Bias Reference Guide "The Death of Outrage" - Bill Bennett

Ok, so it's not a terribly big collection.

Email me if you want it.

I don't mind stashing them for you if nobody wants them.

Keep them. Take them to a relative or someplace, but keep them. You never know what 20 years or so shall bring, except you'll encounter a day you wish you'd kept those books, trust me.

I would love to borrow the O'Reilly factor & return it when finished.

Just a suggestion here: Why don't you donate the books to your local library? There may be a tax break for charitable donation (ask your tax advisor), but one thing's for sure: you'll be providing library patrons some political/philosophical balance, and young conservatives with limited finances will be able to "try before they buy" (as it were).

Just a thought...

I don't trust libraries as far as giving them my trusted books. All libraries do is stash them in a big box and then put them out for sale in a yearly garage sale. They'll sell them for a quarter.

Better to give them to your church librarian. If they don't have a shelf for political and conservative books, they can pass them around to people in their circle who would be interested in them.

That's what I do with books like Bernard Goldberg's "Bias". After I pass it around to my conservative friends, I take it to my church librarian who's always happy to read it first, then pass it on. Not all the conservative books are appropriate for the library shelf, since some of the liberal commentary they quote is hateful and obscene (the "f" word).

Well, I thought about donating them to the library...but realized there's no way the library would put them on the shelves for people to check out and would probably just sell them for a fund raiser to buy more copies of the Communist Manifesto.

Haven't asked a church librarian, I'll do that and get back to you guys.
