To: way-right-of-center
One more comment before i go back to work.

This may have already been mentioned somewhere in this thread, but IMO the most effective home/self defense weapon is one you are comfortable with and are confident in. If you are proficient with a pistol, use a pistol. If you have confidence in a scattergun, same story. If you are hell-on-wheels with a garden hoe, go for it. At any rate, take a course and get some training in the proper use/care of your weapon of choice. Its not as easy as you think to grab a weapon and defend yourself with a bad guy barelling down on you.

The problem is some of us are relatively proficient with multiple weapons and are faced with decisions decisions. Do I use the 1911 with the cutom rubber grips, the Kimber, the EAA witness, the Remington 1100, the Mauser .45acp, etc. I figure start anyplace and work my way through until there is no more home invader acapable of continuing an attack on me.
