BISMARCK, ND Gov. John Hoeven and former Gov. Ed Schafer will headline a rally to support President George W. Bush and our nations Armed Forces. With the ever-growing need for unity in fighting the war on terrorism, the North Dakota Federation of College Republicans has organized a rally on the front steps of the Capitol on Wednesday, Feb. 19th at 12:30 PM.
Today, more than ever, we need to stand united behind our President and our troops, Hoeven said. A new generation of young men and women are preparing to defend our liberties and values. We must stand shoulder to shoulder with them as they assume these enormous responsibilities on our behalf.
Schafer emphasized the importance of showing our appreciation to our armed services and those who lead our country.
During this time of uncertainty, I hope North Dakotans will take the time to show their support of our President and every North Dakotan who has been called to service, and recognize their sacrifice for the safety and security of our great nation, said Schafer.
Students from across the state began organizing the event two months ago. NDFCR Chairman, Justin Dever commented, I am confident in the ability of this rally to show the nation and the world, North Dakotas belief in our President and his ability to make decisions. He also stated that many people are planned to be in attendance, and enthusiasm will run high.

THE PRAIRIE FOR THE PRESIDENT
I have been watching the news and I am appalled to see the blatant disregard of the horrible inhumane acts committed by the Iraqi tyrant Saddam Hussein by American Actors and other citizens. These people believe that through inaction Americans will be safer and the economy will become stronger.
Every time we do nothing something terrible happens. They claim that animosity will grow towards the United States and we will suffer more terrorist acts. These claims are untrue. In areas such as Iraq, animosity towards the U.S. couldn't get any higher. But let us not forget that these people have been fed disinformation for years. It is our duty as Americans to maintain our free society and to also liberate others when it is deemed necessary.
These tyrants breed hatred through the spreading of lies and are a threat to our nation, that is why we must stand with President Bush in his effort to topple Iraq and end organized terror.
I am suggesting a rally of support for President Bush to be held with the students and the people of North Dakota.I believe we should invite our dear neighbors to the north, south, east, and west. I would ask that we send invitations to the legislatures, executive officers, and Congressional/Parliamentary officers of North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Native North Dakotans who have achieved national celebrity status shall be sought out to participate, and we will extend an invitation to the President as well.
This event would include possible words from North Dakota political heads, such as; Ed Schafer, John Hoeven, Rick Clayburgh, Roger Johnson, Heidi Heitcamp, Joel Heitcamp, Earl Pomeroy, Byron Dorgan, Kent Conrad, Earl Strinden, Bob Stenehjem, Wayne Stenehjem, John Dalrymple, Jim Poolman, Tony Clark, and other elected officials from North Dakota and the surrounding states and providences.
Statewide celebrities, such as Scott Hennen, and Ed Shoultz, will be asked to participate and religious figures will also be asked.
Our goal for this event will be to attract as many individuals as we can and bring them to the Capital in Bismarck, to show the United States and the World that the people of the prairie are united and ready to stand up to evil and persecution of terrorist states, to show that we have given opportunity to countries like Iraq and they have not complied until the time suits them, to show that leaders like Saddam Hussein have violated international law, trampled on the United States peace keeping agreements, inhumanely treated their own people, and openly funded and embraced terrorist organizations.
We will seek local, national, and international press coverage. We will provide musical entertainment of local singing groups and bands between speakers. We will ask the audience to join in singing the national anthem, reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, and an opening and closing prayer.
We ask the College Republican National Committee to support our effort and assist us in securing national media; political and social figures. Any financial support for this event would be greatly appreciated. We need to cooperate in this effort of non-partisan support for the President and the war. This is a non-partisan problem that the party can address by reaching out to Democrats and all the people. This will also show the true strength of the College Republicans in dealing with national issues.
With the success of this event, a clear message will be sent to those who have chosen to stand in the way of justice. This great democratic republic that was founded upon a declaration of independence from tyranny and oppression, and a constitution that reinforces our God given rights that terrorism is trying to destroy, yet these individuals stand so firmly in the way of the road to victory. This event will be the onset of a new wave of patriotism and assurance in our nations leaders and Americas ability to stand strong in the wake of hatred and evil.
