Then we had to go back to no man's land, but that turned out OK too, because Curtis could be heard and there was even a ledge for him to stand on. The cops were all ears while he was speaking. A fabulous addition to our rally.
Thanks to everyone who attended and special thanks to Curtis Sliwa and his Guardian Angels, Cacique, NYC GOP Chick, Dutchy, Doctor Raoul, and StarFan for their heroic efforts.
We were also treated very well by McFadden's. It's a bit out of the way of the tourist areas, so the food was quite a lot better than we are used to in the tourist spots. We'll have to make a point of going back there again.
I am sorry to have missed it. It's tough to sit one out and wait for reports to come in. I felt like I had to do something (like boiling some water and tearing up strips of cloth, or something) so I spent the day jumping from cooking massive quantities of food and then on to FR for updates from all the rallies across the US.
From reports on numbers, it appears that the communists are losing their base. The reality-challenged college kids and soccer moms have short attention spans, and maybe our education efforts at our counter-protests are also sinking in with the folks who were blindly marching with the communists in the past.
To all of you who stood out on the streets today:
I salute you all!
I was lucky that I saw you guys during that part. If not, I don't know how I could have found you at 41st and 1st.
Loved listening to Curtis (I listen to him daily on WABC) but the counter-demonstration on 40th and 2nd was the best.
My regards to fellow FReepers who braved the cold and the dreadlocked leftists. Nice work to all organizers. Let's do this again soon.
