Oh, come on. Women have been killing their husbands and walking for it in Texas since at least 1836. Things have actually been going in the opposite direction. 40 years ago she probably would have been No-billed by the Grand Jury. She certainly never would have been convicted

Crime of passion laws protected men who took a shotgunto their wife or especially their wife's lover, and I don't think they had to be found in bed.

In Texas a man could never shoot his wife for adultery. A man was however allowed to presume his wife was faithful. Thus if he found his wife and another man in the act, he could presume it was rape and kill the other man. That provision was taken out by the liberal democrats when the rewrote the criminal code in '76

It wasn't all his money. Both were dentists, and she owned 51% of their dental office business, they had five or six offices. One was here in Lake Jackson, Texas. But she did the crime, on video even, and now must do the time. 9 women on that jury were not convinced by Clara.

After I read the whole long article I was on Clara's side, but then they FINALLY showed the video of her running over her husband three times, after the trial was over. Now I think she is a killer. Yes, he caused her to snap, but she is still a cold blooded killer.

I am an 'old time Texan' & I would *never* vote to acquit someone who killed another person if it was not self defense. Clara Harris was in no danger from her husband she was free to drive away & ruin him in divorce court. She chose to ruin a lot more lives than his. Get over this "he needed killin" garbage. There is a stone cold truthful fact ... the pompous liberals of Minneapolis, Madison WI and Chicago are the racists, it's not the Southern White Boys. The South has racial harmony, white and black folks eat together, work together and live together. If a white guy uses the term "nigger", he's also helping his black neighbors in any way he can, without thought. He's spending Saturday bass fishing with his close friend Leon. A caucasian "progressive" here in tolerance land would sheyatt their pants if two black men entered an elevator with them. Black folk are totally isolated here. Most Minnesotans wouldn't know what to say to an African American if they were side by side on a 5 hour flight.

Anyway, had to get that off my chest, I was in Atlanta several weeks ago and watched the world work, and then saw the trepidation in a Minneapolis nightclub when 4 black guys entered the area.

Heh... Yep, I know a fair number of folks who have what one might call an antiquated view of "multicultural ideology" ['scuze me whilst I purge here a second, that phrase doth bile me] and they'll rail on about n*****s taking our women and whatnot, but when it comes down to it they'll do like any decent human would.

I also know some folks who talk white sheet AND act white sheet, so one can't go and make blanket statements about all the racial idyllicity down here...

Well that's a cryin' shame. One of the most in-neresting folks I ever got roped into talking to on a flight was a lil' ol' 80-year-old black grandma. Fiesty as the day is long.

I have and have had a fair number of friends and colleagues who were black, and it occurred to me that I don't tend to think of 'em as "black" or "African-American" or "minority"-- they're just Bob or Sheila or Tim. (Or Tyrone, Shanika, and Damon as the case may be.) I reckon that's reprehensible on my part, failing to duly note their stark outstanding extreme difference from myself...
