It is useful to know who your bedfellows are. This thread has been very eye-opening....

I don't have any bedfellows, thank you very much.
There are a goodly number of women who are glad to know me.

She'll be out in 7 years. This is a seriously light sentence for murder. So much for Texas justice.

If a guy ran over his cheating wife with his screaming daughter in the passenger seat, the public would be howling for blood and the guy would be on death row. This affirmative action Texas-style sucks.

If that's true, then either she can't see what you're writing or you are a very VERY brave man!

LOL

I think it's a little of both. I tease her all the time about her temper but she might not appreciate me sharing that information with FR.

What city is Clara from? Cartagena, Barranquilla, Medellin, Cali, Bogota? I think this needs to be factored in to my future post-FARC travel plans.

I don't know where she is originally from but it shouldn't be too difficult to find out since I am in the Houston area.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery" wasn't a suggestion, and it wasn't for a light or frivolous reason that G-d said it. "

Somewhere in there God also said "Thou shalt not kill." And Jesus stopped a crowd from stoning an adulteress to death. Clara wouldn't have gotten along too good with either Jesus or God.

Bears repeating with some of the astounding excusism you hear on this thread.

adultery is OK - yet you keep bringing it up. Why? She had the financial means to leave, hire a good lawyer, and bankrupt the bastard, yet she did not.

The same is true about a lot of the cases where people murder their cheating spouses. I'm just saying that it's a FACT that adultery often leads to violence. That's why getting involved in adultery is S-T-U-P-I-D. I'm not excusing a murderer, just stating the facts. If I tell you to stay out of a rough part of town at night, and you go there and get shot, it's not excusing the shooter to say that you were stupid to go there. Dr. Harris was stupid to "go there."

There are alot of bad things that aren't against the law, but are often grounds for civil action., like DIVORCE.

That is the reason you need to be able to kill a man who needs killing.

As an example, there was the guy in Oklahoma a few years ago who had terrorised an entire town, but they couldn't make any realy serious case against him and no one was willing to testify to put him away for only a few years and face him when he came back.
Someone killed him.
On the main street of town.
No one saw a thing.
After years, no one still has seen a thing.

There are a lot of occasions when the law is inadequate.

What Ms. Harris needed was an "A" list atty. Houston has probably the top criminal bar in the country, on both sides. Her "B" list Atty was eaten alive by the prosecutor.

About why the parents of David Harris chose to be witnesses for the Defense --

It simply proves to me that THEY believed that Clara didn't intend to kill David. That she loved him, and his death was an accident.

About the video

And I have looked at the video many times and I think that Clara drove the Mercedes around in circles "around" David. That she didn't run over him numerous times. I think that the testimony of an expert witness was that the back wheel killed him; when he was hit, he went up and over and under the back wheel.

I think that Lindsay's mother (David's exwife) is a money grubber who influenced Lindsay to testify the way she did. I don't think the video supports Lindsay's claim that Clara ran over David numerous times.

What was so confusing about the video, it shows the Mercedes running up and over several medians in the parking lot. The car is shown going up and down as it went over the curbs, but all the time "circling". I think that the video would have shown the car going in a straight line and acellerating -- if the driver was aiming at running over the body. What I saw was the car going around in circles at a consistent rate of speed. Then stopping abruptly.

That's why I think that Clara was circling her husband, hoping that he would get up and then she stopped and went to his side, when she came to her senses.

No doubt that Lindsay was more aware that her Dad was lying in the parking lot and Lindsay was screaming for Clara to "stop the car" -- not "stop running over him."

You seem to be a huge liberal when it comes to murder. And how about "Thou shalt not kill"?

Correctly translated, the Commandment is "Though Shalt Not Do Murder"

This was a killing, it was not a murder.

apologist for murder

That is the whole point.
This was a killing, not a murder.

Texans have traditionally punished murder with death. They have traditionally not punished killing at all. Harris' "B" list atty failed to make the case properly to the jury.

This was a man who needed killing and she killed him.

And THAT my friends, is Texas justice.

Really? 20 years for running over her husband multiple times and killing him? Seems like life would have been a little more fitting.

I've been in the parking lot of the Hilton there dozens of times. She was driving in a very small area with several curbs and medians. Very small area.

This was a killing, it was not a murder

Anyone who is incapable of calling the act of running over someone three times a murder, is incapable of being taking seroiusly.

The only justifiable excuse for the intentional taking of another human's life is self defense.

You bet, they would have locked him up, and thrown away the key. No doubt.

As a woman, I have to agree I'd have been FURIOUS and half nuts if I'd found my husband with his mistress like that.

As a woman to another woman, she WENT to the hotel KNOWING that this may be the situation! Why else was she there, except to confirm that her husband was cheating on her. It wasn't exactly a surprise. I'm not buying the sudden emotion theory. I'm sorry - no sympathy from this female!!
