(UPDATE 4:30)Long Island Railroad service in and out of Penn Station has been suspended due to a smoke condition. According to the New York Fire Department, a loose cable hit the third rail of track 21 just before four this afternoon. This caused a fire, and prompted the shutdown of LIRR service. The fire was quickly extinguished, however, the tunnels need to be vented before service can be restored. The one, two and three subway lines are also by passing Penn Station due to the smoke conditions. Stay with News 12 Long Island for the latest on this developing story.

If that monstrosity burns up, it will be a great gift to architecture.
Of course, that's tongue-in-cheek, since you'd hate to see anyone get hurt. Oh, why oh why did they destroy beautiful Penn Station and replace it with that hideous structure?

Critical industries and key infrastructure should take steps to guard against potential terrorist attacks, including checking for possible infiltrators among employees, according to a new government warning.
The FBI and the National Infrastructure Protection Center said in the bulletin that security routines should be varied and officials should think back to unusual incidents that might indicate they are being targeted.
Now, how many employees @ Penn are from Pakistan, etc?
To: CedarDave
Possibly a distraction?
Plus, I live about an hour outside NYC... my kids' school had their very first bomb scare today :-(

I meant more of those in the PortAuthority, LIRR or the subway system with access to places within the bowels of the building and the tunnels.
So break out the booze, and have a ball, cause that's all there is....
