I was going to bicycle the Rhine river this year. Instead, I am going to bicycle the Blue Ridge Parkway. Do you think that will have any impact on the Germans and Air France?

Funny sh.. I know Enzo and I have eaten at his restaurant many times and smoked fine cigars.

"Because of the current position your government is taking on not supporting the US at this time regarding Iraq, we are not going to support France in any way," read one e-mail to the co-founder of www.fromages.com.

At least one US restaurateur has stopped selling French wine and champagne althogether.

New Yorker Enzo Lentini said he was angered by newspaper reports that France would not take part in a Nato plan to protect Turkey in the event of a war in Iraq.

And your friend should have done the same thing.

I'm bad. I make huge party reservations at expensive restaurants, and if they tell me they are Nazi anti-smoking establishments, I say, "Yuck. No thanks. I need a more inclusive environment for my busy function."

"Other than wine, what else do the French make?"

Trouble?

The French are more opposed to us than the Chinese. They are not our ally. They are our former ally.

I cut the Germans some slack, since their Chancellor is enormously unpopular. But Chirac is popular, and he's supposedly conservative. What a joke.

Watching that French foreign minister today at the UN made sick. To hell with them.

If Americans really want to get the attention of the French Government and you are looking for products to boycott check out all the products sold by this French owned Company Saint Gobain (mostly construction related products)

CertainTeed

Be sure to email them when you visit the site to let them know how displeased you are with the French Government. Saint Gobain is one of the very largest industrial companies in the world and can be very influential with the French Government.

You're right, only that guy is way too spineless to be my friend. He's my friend's coworker, occupying the next cubicle in the same department. I met him, he's a wimp.

I don't support companies or entities that are enemies of the US. France is an enemy.

I want to know how much foreign aid we the people send to Europe, Mid East, Asia, Africa and specifically to which countries. That's what we should boycott.

Ordering from a French menu. Ok, cheese looks harmless enough. Didn't realize it was goat's cheese. Couldn't get the stuff past my nose. Interesting that as the week progressed, I found that the cheese smell was the least offensive odor I would encounter while there.

Made using cultures harvested from the armpits of selected Frenchmen who haven't bathed for at least one year.

Sounds like a cheap commodity owing to an abundant supply.

The BMW plant is non-union. SC is a right-to-work state, and there are rather low union numbers here.
BMW gets lots of breaks, but they employ alot of people (who get paid very well) and put alot of money into the local economy, not to mention the company's charitable and philanthropic acts.
Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face isn't always a good strategy.

Wisconsin Extry-Sharp (extra-sharp for you Northerners) Cheddar

Black Diamond cheddar (made in Canada) is one of the world's great cheddars. After discovering it, it's the only kind I buy now.

Unlike a lot of world-class cheeses, it's widely distributed and reasonably easy to find -- most stores with a decent selection of "good" cheese carry it.

Another cheese worth going out of your way for is Parmigiano-reggiano (Italy), which is probably the best parmesan-style cheese, period.

Yes, most of the time there are negative aspects for most actions, such as the case of the BMW plant in SC. But soon America will be at war with a country who germany is giving aid, and confort to. BTW, I truly believe that saddam would have capitulated, and gotten out of iraq had it not been for france's and germany's opposition to go after him. Now saddam has been emboldened, and will require placing American soldiers in harms way to get rid of him. Because of this, Americans must show germany that there is a price to pay for their treachery, even if it causes some economic hardship in some parts of America. I for one, will no longer buy any french, or german products. I feel sorry for the S. Carolinians whose job maybe impacted, but my heart will bleed more for the families of the American soldiers who may lose their lives in this coming war, because of france's, and germany's actions.

Well, believe me I'd rather see Americans building American cars in America, but the car manufacturing business ain't what it used to be. (Car design isn't either, for that matter)
I think it has come to the point where we need to send a message with our wallets, but I would prefer to avoid hurting ourselves in the process. However, I do realize that may not be possible.

Yes, we are living in very difficult times. America is under attack, not only by islamists terrorists, but also by our so called friends, whose hides we saved not too long ago.
