I guess that's what they are really trying to say. That Washington and others were phony.
I do think all sides of a story should be told. History is history and it should be learned. I just don't think that turning all our national monuments and memorabilia into monuments to slavery is the way to go. As flawed and as human as they were, our founding fathers did build a country were it was possible for everyone to find freedom.
All this money and time and energy spent trying to constantly beat us all about the head with this, could really be better spent with eyes toward the future.

OK--then let's make certain that part of the slavery exibit clearly shows the FACT that it was AFRICAN tribes that turned on each other and captured and sold these slaves to the slave trade.
I would also expect that the exibit will make it very clear that, in reality, a very small percentage of Americans actually ever owned slaves.
