"And it would allow visitors to see through the facade"

I guess that's what they are really trying to say. That Washington and others were phony.
I do think all sides of a story should be told. History is history and it should be learned. I just don't think that turning all our national monuments and memorabilia into monuments to slavery is the way to go. As flawed and as human as they were, our founding fathers did build a country were it was possible for everyone to find freedom.
All this money and time and energy spent trying to constantly beat us all about the head with this, could really be better spent with eyes toward the future.

IMHO, whether or not we get an actual 'reparations tax' (which i will REFUSE to pay), reparations are already happening and have for years in several formats: Affirmative action, quotas, welfare, preferred college admissions, revisionist history, slave monuments virtually everywhere on former historical sites, African heritage history in K-12 textbooks - I honestly don't know how we had a USA without slavery!! /sarcasm Remember, we're 'redesigning' our currency this year. BET ME we'll have a MLK or Oprah dollar coming soon. /sarcasm on the Oprah, I think.

Oh, goody. The Liberty Bell has been hijacked by the Stalinist Race Whores.

How touching.
