Good point, but at present, unless I am part of the Nielsen ratings or answer a survey, how can they tell what I am watching? Does techonlogy permit a van to cruise neighborhoods to see what TVs are tuned to and is anyone doing this?

I rarely buy a product because the maker sponsors a TV show. On the other hand, I have tried Snapple ice tea because they sponsor Rush.

What about Viggo?

Yes, I'll go to see the move with Viggo as Aragorn. I'll go to see it with that homo Ian what's-his-name as Gandalf. Tolkein's message shines through far more than Viggo's politics and Ian's sexual fetishes. That message is worth watching.

Shalom.

...They do more to glorify guns and violence and then lobby for Gun control...

Good point. If I had kids, I wouldn't let them watch this crap--the misuse of guns and mindless violence--either. I will plead guilty to watching some of it myself.

I think it is possible to draw an analogy between the Hollwood radicals and University Professors.

Most of these people are overpaid, underchallenged, and live in a dream world, divorced from the reality that most Americans, or even Iraqis for that matter, live in.

As doctrinaire leftists, they oppose ANYTHING a Republican Administration undertakes, especially military operations.

These same people had no problem with U.S. casualties in Somalia, or bombing Serbs in the Balkans.

Their outrage is as selective as their personal morality is
questionable.

"...taking our money and pay off their voters."

We're on the same page. Deny them your consumer dollar and they will have that much less to contribute to those thieves who loot our family incomes.

Do you know who first noticed the potential of movies to propagandize and brainwash the public?

Right. It was Lenin. And he was speaking of the American film industry.

mindless violence

"Mindless" being the operative word.

The popular culture is duming America down at least as fast as the State schools are. We need a resurgence of the fine arts in this country. Note: I'm not talking about the cr@p funded by the NEA, I'm talking about real fine art, classic works like the ones we studied in high school and college. You need to engage your brain to watch Shakespeare but not to watch Stephen King.

Last Christmas you could have paid about $6 to go see "Santa Claus 2" or between $10 and $100 to go see "The Nutcracker". We've priced fine art away from the masses. IMO nothing would do more to elevate our culture than to work to make fine art accessible to everyone, along with sufficient education to enjoy it.

Shalom.

At the risk of really hating the answer, please post either Mortensen's Iraqi views or links to same.

Shalom.

There was a very interesting (and very long) article posted to FR a week (or so) ago. It talked about the near future of movies being downloaded from internet sites, much as music is downloaded via Napster, WinMX, KaZam etc.

As you can imagine, many in Hollywood are nearly hysterical at the very thought of this. Are the days of $20M salaries per movie numbered?? Wouldn't that be sweet. Hit'em where it hurts. The wallet.

I'll try to find the article.

That is where Presiden Reagan got his knowledge in how to take it to the communist head on. He saw their method of operation with the unions in Hollywood. That is why he left the democrat party. He saw their destruction first hand.

Hollywood is seductive to the mind and the communist know that the way to the mind is through playing with the emotions.

Note, rarely do we ever hear a question "What do you think" it is most usually "How do you FEEL about......" Most Americans don't think today, they "FEEL". (Feelings are like the weather can change with a blink of an eye)

It was no coincidence that Bill Clinton's favorite line was "I FEEL YOUR PAIN!

Understood. Reminds me of that saying: If a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a noise?

Embrace File-Sharing, or Die

This is the name and link to the article I mentioned, about the future downloading of movies. I know lots of college-aged kids that already download movies, while they are still being shown in theatres.

lol, no, really, enjoy the movie. I understand how you feel about wanting to see a certain movie. This is an issue I am struggling with as well.

If you want to do some browsing on your own, start here...

Google search for: Viggo Mortensen Iraq

Hollywood, like Disney, is getting a bad name. When Martin Sheen came down to FL to campaign for Reno, it actually hurt her in most of FL. Talk radio is starting to make inroads in helping people realize just how nuts they are in Hollywood.

I guess for the truly uneducable, BS would be someone worth listening to, but now when most of the Hollywood stars come out and say something, the reaction from the electorate is, "What can you expect? They are all nuts.", at best, and at worst, anger at such traitorous conduct.

According to Dustin Hoffman, President Bush's real reasons for threatening a war with Iraq are, of course, "hegemony, money, power and oil."

I loathe these hypocritical Hollywood types. They are essentially saying "It's okay for us to drive gas-guzzling SUVs and have more money than God, but that only applies to ME, ME, ME!!! You *little people* who pay my salary should just shut up and make do."

The next movie I'll see is Gods and Generals, and after that I'll choose VERY carefully.
