'Idol' Semi-Finalist Dismissed from Show

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "American Idol" semi-finalist and early fan favorite Frenchie Davis has been dropped from the show.

Davis, 23, was dismissed after FOX officials learned she had once posed topless for an Internet site that claimed to feature pictures of underage girls, TheSmokingGun.com reports. Davis was over 18 when she posed for the photos.

All evidence that Davis was ever involved with "American Idol" has vanished from the contestant portion of FOX's web site for the series. There are, however, numerous angry postings on the show's message boards about her dismissal, and online petitions have been started to reinstate her.

Davis had been scheduled to appear with the final group of semi-finalists on Tuesday, Feb. 25, but will be replaced by another contestant.

"Idol" producer 19 Entertainment, which signs the contest winner to a management contract, says that despite Davis' dismissal, it will "do all in its power" to help her establish a music career, according to USA Today.

"American Idol" carries a TV-G rating, and FOX pitches the show as family-friendly viewing, which may partly explain Davis' dismissal. However, the network chose not to remove Sarah Kozer, a "Joe Millionaire" participant who has appeared -- fully clothed -- in several bondage and fetish films, from that series.

FOX reportedly knew about the films beforehand but allowed Kozer to take part in the show nonetheless.

Evan Marriott's brief career as an underwear model wasn't a problem. And "Joe Millionaire" contestant Sarah Kozer's starring role in dozens of bondage and fetish films also was of no concern to Fox Television. But the network has bounced an "American Idol" contestant because the woman once posed nude for an Internet porn site.

Frenchie Davis, the 23-year-old singer canned by Fox, was a fan favorite and had been tabbed last week by Entertainment Weekly as one of the program's leading six contenders. According to a TSG source, Davis posed topless (and appeared to be masturbating) on "Daddy's Little Girls," a web site that purported to feature naked underage girls (which, of course, would be illegal). However, at the time she posed for these photos, Davis was over 18. The Washington, D.C. native has claimed that she took the topless gig to earn money so that she could re-enroll in Howard University, where she is a theater major. In a recent interview, when asked about the proudest moment of her life, Davis said, "Other than getting back in school after not having the money and not being there for a year," American Idol "has been the proudest moment 'cause I worked so hard."

All traces of Davis's involvement in "American Idol" have been stripped from Fox's web site, a banishment nearly as abrupt as the ones delivered by judge Simon Cowell. The network's decision to can Davis has been blasted by followers of the show who have been flooding fan sites with complaints. A typical beef--posted in an online petition calling for Davis's reinstatement--stated, "American Idol will no longer hold my interest if Frenchie Davis is gone. She was the voice and talent. Every other contestant is extremely(!) bland, boring and not the least bit intriguing. Give America what they want and bring Frenchie Davis back!"

With her brassy voice and large frame, Davis has drawn comparisons to Aretha Franklin. In describing Davis and fellow contestant Kimberley Locke, Entertainment Weekly wrote, "From the second these two bodacious beauties strutted their stuff on stage, all those navel-baring lightweights should have headed home."

I knew it! They have been talking about some "big twist" at the end of the show, and I told my DH that Evan was going to turn out to be gay and run off with the butler instead of one of the girls.

Maybe I'm just cranky but I'm horrified by this show. ALL the people at my job talk about is Joe Millionaire and American Idol. It's like the Stephen King story where the hero discovered a chemical that made everyone who took it, happy. It also, to his great shock made them imbeciles.

I think this sounds WAY too paranoid. I mean where else do you find people for these shows out here than from modeling and acting. And this gay thing? Come on, MSNBC sounds more like a tabloid than news source here.

My big problem with Joe Millionaire is that he is an IDIOT! Absolutely no brains or wit. He is so stupid that he even let slip to the women that he was working construction only a few weeks previously. Also I can't stand his constant moaning about how lousy he feels about lying to the women. Well, DUH! That was the PREMISE of the show. The man is a total MORON.

Seriously, I hope Freepers weren't watching this garbage. It's bad enough my wife started watching "American Idol" this season.
