Why Are Threads Pulled?
http://www.scoop.co.nz/mason/stories/HL0302/S00061.htm ^

Posted on 02/12/2003 7:15:35 AM PST by A Vast RightWing Conspirator

A few minutes ago, I found an article posted from 'Scoop' (click on the link to see the article) - whatever the Scoop is - that detailed the several ways in which our president and his administration are trying to 'convince' the public that attacking Iraq was the right thing to do. The article appeared to be quite well researched and, chuck-full of facts. Agreed, it did suggest that the administration was using lies, distortions, omissions and exagerations to make its points but it was offering what appeared to be facts to prove the point. It was an interesting read.

Well... the thread was 'pulled' by the time I was finished with my reading.

Such behavior is to be expected from propaganda efforts, such as DU, or 'Salon'. Is FR becoming like them? Is FR's purpose education/action or simply base and gross indoctrination? Can anyone explain to me why this is done? Because if this continues then FR's credibility will continue to diminish. FR should not be afraid of posting 'controversial' articles. Reading this piece was not a 'confortable' experience but, if the numerous facts cited there were wrong, why not give the capable Freepers the ability to refute them?

Will this post be 'pulled' too? Or moved to some dark corner (chat)?

I think you pretty much answered that yourself ... it was "scoop" , pertaining to a news story or relevation. Do you have any sources for this information?

"Why was thread pulled" threads are always pulled.

Did you email the Admin Moderator?

That has worked for me when I had a question. Took a few hours for them to get back to me.

I should have described FR's purpose as education/debate/action instead of only 'education/action'

Because we don't want to end up like LP; 50 people all sitting around badmouthing America and dreaming up conspiracies. Slap a Barf Alert around it next time.

The Scoop piece does have a decidedly anti-Bush flavor. No one would ever mistake it for anything remotely resembling "objective."

I believe if would be interesting if the article stayed posted so that the article's misstatements were exposed. If they were misstatements. I, for example, do remember vividly how the Reagan and Bush administrations supported Iraq's attempted invasion of Iran. I also remember how the administration at the time was quite unconfortable discussing the gassing fo Kurds. Is it a fact that we encouraged Iraq to attack Iran and we actively supported their war effort? Just to mention on of the facts mentioned in the article.

Ooh wah, ooh wah
Why do fools fall in love?

Why do birds sing so gay
And lovers await the break of the day
Why do they fall in love?
Why does the rain fall from up above?
Why do fools fall in love?
Why do they fall in love?

Love is a losing game
Love can be a shame
I know, I'm a fool you see
For that fool is me
Tell me why
Tell me why

Why do birds sing so gay
And lovers await the break of the day
Why do they fall in love?
Why does the rain fall from up above?
Why do fools fall in love?
Why do they fall in love?

Why does my heart
Skip a crazy beat?
For I know
It will reach defeat
Tell me why
Tell me why

Why do fools fall in love?
Tell me why
Tell me why

Come on. You've been around here long enough not to be shocked by the editorial policies. Why don't you just request to the Admin Moderator to have the thread reinstated? I've done it in the past, sometimes with success. They're reasonable people.

I agree that there are alot of them coming on to Free Republic lately. If you happen to lurk on the dark side of DU - they can't wait to report back that they posted on Free Republic. They get some sort of cheap thrill out of it. Apparently the DU isn't exciting enough for them to get truly involved. Which is why they need brainwashing communist anti-american groups such as A.N.S.W.E.R and United for Peace to keep them occupied.

Horsecrap. Saddam attacked Iran because he was worried about the incursion of radical Islam into Iraq. Iraq, like Turkey, is a secular military dictatorship and he didn't want the radical moving on him next. We didn't help Saddam all that much. He used French and Russian weapons and we had neither.
