Or what about the words "a lot"? You do not combine them to form "alot". "A lot" are two separate words.
Also, I won't even begin to vent about how people need to CAPITALIZE EVERY WORD when they try to emphasize something.

Ah wellllllllll,
I LOVE ALL CAPS
as I read from 4 feet away in my grandma's rocker.
Nice for my aging eyes.
It's just a font change!
Who decreed that YOU HAD TO GET UPSET over a measely little font change!!!
And who decreed that YOU HAD TO COMPLY WITH THEIR EDICT BY, IN FACT, GETTING ****UPSET****!!!!!!!!
So nice of you to give away control of your emotions like that. ALL CAPPERS must enjoy the power over you IMMENSELY.
Besides, SOMEONE has to wage the battle against the discrimmination in wholesale favor of lower case. CAPPISM is a meager effort to overcome racist lowercase FONTISM.
LONG LIVE CAPS!

Don't laugh, (well you can, but not too hard)but I am one of those idiots who have been spelling a lot as alot. I have been doing this ever since the eigth grade when my English teacher corrected my spelling of a lot to alot. I think about it every time I use the word because I was so dumbfounded by the fact that I had no idea that it was one word, but I took the teacher at her word and never looked it up all these years.
Thank you.
