Take a look at historical pictures of some of the generals portrayed, they really did have huge, thick beards that looked like the ones in the movies.

Sorry, I wouldn't spend 2 cents on something that involves Ted Turner.

I've seen a few boxes of Smith Bros. Cough Drops, so I'm quite aware that the beards of the day were sometimes bushy and large. However, very few pictures from that era depict visible spirit gum holding the thing on.

The man who wrote, produced and directed the movie, Ron Maxwell, is a republican.

I am well aware of that, and I understand also that he is a good and decent man who did a great job. Still, Ted Turner is affiliated with the film.

What kind of guns are the Sharp Shooters carrying, I was just in the Sharps Factory in Big Timber Montana, you could sure spend a lot of money in there in a hurry.

The Sharps Rifle (Model 1859) - Breachloading - Paper Cartridge - Single Fire - Awesome weapon. I have actually fired one live (on a range - lol) as they are not considered by the great state of Michigan to be a "Black Powder (Muzzle Loader) for hunting season. A website for more info (Shameless plug) is

I may not have written the articles, but they are very good.
