NASA informed the Ramon family early this morning that remains of astronaut Col. Ilan Ramon had been found and identified with certainty. IDF Rabbi Lt.-Col Tzvi Black, in Houston for the purpose of taking part in the identification process, confirmed the findings.
Ilan Ramon will be buried in Israel next week in a military ceremony, after which his family will observe the traditional seven-day mourning period. The Israel Air Force that Ramon took along with him to space was also found in its entirety.
U.S. President George Bush, who took part in the memorial ceremony for the seven astronauts yesterday, approached the Ramon family afterwards and told them [in paraphrasal], "Ilan blew up the Iraqi nuclear reactor [in 1981], and I will finish the job."

Go to the library and read about the tragic death of Jane Mansfield. That was over 30 years ago. The reporting was the same - no change when it comes to sensationalism.

I hope you wrote them. I will.

I have not written them because I couldn't say for sure which news channel my daughter was watching. News Channel 14 was on earlier but my wife will watch CNN from time to time. Either way, my daughter wasn't too sure which channel it was and by the time I had reached the TV she was watching Animal Planet.

I'm not sure Bush would have said this to the family either. However, it's a wonderful thing for the press to print at this time to memorialize this wonderful man and to keep morale up in Israel.

It's not a quote, it's a paraphrase.

I either read or heard something a month or so ago that it was an extra wig which started the rumors about Jayne.

I heard a liberal jackass the other day on the radio ('inner city minister'-type; probably Jesse Jackson's understudy), who said (re: the Shuttle), well, we had it coming, and 'the Lord works in mysterious ways', and that he feels in the bottom of his heart the God acted in this way, and particularly over Texas, as a 'sign and warning' to Bush not to go to war and kill innocents in Iraq. Its not directly related to the thread topic, but about a month ago I was driving through a severe rainstorm north of San Antonio. On a local station some minister was ranting that the storm was G-d punishing GWB, who was at his ranch at the time, a dark ominous cloud over Crawfordsville (right town?).
Go figure.

There was an Israeli FLAG on Ramon's astronaut uniform. See the flag on Ramon's left shoulder.

Since this is a thread honoring the memory of Col. Ramon, I don't want to get off subject. The point I was making is that the press can get pretty sensational. In the case of Jayne Mansfield, the car she was riding in ran into the back of a semi and under the trailer. The crash knocked off the hardtop, as if it was a convertible. The urban legend is that her head ended up in the back seat. The fact is the collision basically scalped her and she died instantly from head trauma. Her kids in the back seat survived the crash.
