Now I wish that I had posted something more profound than 'Dang. Just missed it.' -or whatever it was along those lines that I posted.

This is great news however it should come with a warning; those in power who have been after the Net and talk radio, may try to squelch free speech once again.
Good on 'Ya Freepers!

Sad that we had to be the original chroniclers (sp) of this disaster. But as I tell many, read FR and you will find a good deal that the mainstream won't report, or that can't assemble into a coherent picture (i.e., Clinton corruption).

Article is dated Feb. 2, Sunday, when the WSJ doesn't publish. I take it this is on their Web site? I wonder if it appears in the print edition today.
To: aristeides
It was indeed on their website.

The W S Journal website (Opinion Journal) posts articles every day. They post their editorial page writings on the site.
James Taranto writes "Best of the Web Today" which appears early afternoon each day. (I didn't realize he wrote on weekends until this past wkend...don't know if that's normal). Taranto is one of the funniest writers I've ever seen....I look forward to reading him when I get home every night---laughing out loud at some of his wry turns of a phrase.
I'm delighted to know he reads us, too!
Check it out: Opinion Journal.com---registration required, but no fee.

I heard about it from FR. I saw the headline that communication had been lost, and went to the TV.

I'm reminded of 9-11. By the tenth or so reply to the thread about the plane hitting the first tower, a FReeper had posted, Osama Bin Laden.

This is an incredible amount or work you freepers have done, an excellent record of the tragic unexpected end to the Columbia and her crew. I wept a lot as I read the first excited sightings of this great shuttle; the first awareness of something wrong and then the ultimate disaster. NASA should be impressed by this group of Americans; your depth of caring and your insight, I know I am.

This article is also linked on Lucianne's short cuts with a special note of congratulations to Free Republic.

Oh, yes. Let me add that FreeRepublic coverage of this disaster was mentioned by a Freeper named Jay on the Charlie Sykes show this morning in Milwaukee.

Oh, yes. Let me add that FreeRepublic coverage of this disaster was mentioned by a Freeper named Jay on the Charlie Sykes show this morning in Milwaukee. Yeah, I heard that! Listen to Charlie every morning. If you hear him talking to some dork named "Christopher in Freeport, Illinois", that's me.

Did Christopher from Freeport call in recently? Sounds familiar to me...
To: conservativecorner
I love the fact that FR scooped AP by more than ten minutes! To be completely honest, though, CNN went to live coverage inside of two minutes after communication was lost. FOX was very soon thereafter. AP is the big loser here.

Did Christopher from Freeport call in recently? Sounds familiar to me... The last time I called in was when he did the topic on people who leave their Christmas lights into (or past) late January. My wife insisted I call in and tell him that we've had ours up for 14 months. And no, they haven't been on all that time...Charlie said, "You don't get to cleaning your gutters much, do you, Chris?"
