Paramount to Pull THE CORE Trailers Due To Shuttle Disaster

Hey folks, Harry here... Well, at 9-11 we lost the SPIDER-MAN teaser that had the World Trade Center on display, this time with the shuttle disaster, they've pulled THE CORE trailer which features the Space Shuttle having massive difficulties upon reentry and seemingly landing I believe in what looks like the THEM! canals in Los Angeles. If you don't remember the trailer, you can get it at ComingSoon.Net if you want it, go get it soon, because... well, the trailer is already being pulled from theaters, online will be next. No word on if this will affect the impending March 28th release date or not. It should be noted that Paramount went ahead with the SUM OF ALL FEARS release against rampant speculation of pulling it due to the "fear" factor it would strike in the public... which btw... NEVER HAPPENED. Here they are being sensitive, I expect the release to continue all the same, just don't expect the Shuttle to be part of the Ad Campaign.
Greetings!

Maybe you've heard of this, maybe you haven't.

I work for AMC Theatres.

Because of the Columbia tragedy today, we were told by AMC Corprate Types and by Paramount to remove all trailers for "The Core" because the trailer contained a scene of a space shuttle explodes.

I don't really know if this is "news" enough for Ain't It Cool News, but I'd figure I'd report and you'd decide.

Later,

Why does this always happen? There were sniper games and movies about to come out after the sniper shootings. There were movies about two towers being hit by terrorism that was set to coem out right after 9-11. And now this? All a coincidence?

I've noticed they always pull movies and TV shows that they think have a "disturbing" association with real-life events. It always irritates me too that fiction is frequently being re-written to fit reality, because that defeats the purpose of "fiction." It seems to me that the American people have just gotten soft. In wars past, in the days of our forefathers, did people obsessively clamor to "sanitize" literary works that reminded them of negative events?

I took a look as well - I had seen that trailer last fall before release dates were slipped (the movie was orginally to release around Thanksgiving). I'm pretty sure there was a second US trailer which would have shown what the article mentions - the existing trailer was on Apple's site, which fits; Apple would have yanked anything like that right away.

Talk about kreepy, did you ever see the first episode of The Lone Gunmen? That was about a jumbo jet being flown by terrorists, via remote computer, into the WTC...and that was several months BEFORE 9/11. It made the tin-foil hat types go nuts.

I've seen it. A shuttle has to make an emergency landing on a highway, skidding sideways on the asphalt. Looked very realistic.

I think the most disturbing part of this is that Harry's world view is so thuroughly via movies that he thinks of the LA River as "the THEM! canals". Harry, go outside, get some air, view reality directly through your eyes instead of through the camera.

And now this? All a coincidence?

The best, most successful screenwriters are psychic. If you want to know what the future holds, find out what movies are in production.

(BTW, for those of you in Rio Linde: you can't stop the future by silencing the prophets. It didn't work for King Ahab, and it won't work for us.)
