The AP started a firestorm with its report that transcripts from emergency meetings somehow proved George Bush lied when he said that no one imagined the levees around Lake Pontchartrain would be breached in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This vaunted system of editors and fact-checking at Exempt Media outlets failed yet again, and yet again the hack job that emerged was intended to damage George Bush.

Ports Deal Faces Wide Opposition. Bush ratings sink (Another MSM biased poll, oversampling Dems)--This article doesn't even mention it, but
another does, at the very end, how many Dems, R, & I-s were polled:
"Of the poll of 1,273 adults, 35 percent were Democrats, 26 percent independents and 25 percent Republicans. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points. "
On Election Day in 2004, the voter breakdown was:
37 percent GOP, 37 percent Democrat, 26 percent independent
And note that 88% of the Dems disapprove, so you can see how oversampling them can skew the poll tremendously.
The MSM found a new way to bring down Bush's ratings, if they still couldn't do it by bashing him 24/7, then they do it by oversampling Dems and NOT adjusting for it in their poll. The adjusted for sex, race, etc, but not for voter registration demographics.

I think we need to keep pointing out the bias, because the MSM has the headline of "Bush approval slipping", etc. and the barely mention it in the article of not mentioning at all, how they got the approval rating. We need to educate people about this.

Toronto Supports Denmark
As Torontonians we are citizens of our nation’s largest and most multiethnic city. That people of so varied cultures can coexist not merely in tolerance, but in a spirit of mutual respect where all are free to practice their customs without imposition on others, is a testament to the strengths of free expression and secularism. We cannot expect Canadian soldiers to risk their lives securing secularism and liberty abroad if we are unwilling to make a modest effort at home. We support Denmark in an attempt to honour these values.

Toronto's new lost generation (Conservative-bashing editorial)--Been working in Toronto for a couple of months. You have no idea how bad things are. There is this great glee about multiculturalism, which means there is no longer a Canadian culture. In Ontario, 1/3 of the high school students opts for a 5th year of HS to have more time to "adjust". All signs are printed in English and French, even in Ontario, but the language you hear all around, even in the workplace, is most likely going to be middle Eastern or Asian. Really scary place.

There's a new project called ReadTheBill.org. The object of it is to get Congress to agree to post the final text of bills online 72 hours before the vote, so that we, the people, can read it. The theory is that we the people will force them to be more aware of what they are voting on. There's a petition and other information over at the website; the idea is for us to contact our representatives and get them to pledge their support. I think it's a good, exceedingly timely initiative and that people should pressure their legislators. Something's got to be done.
Minh-Duc at State Of Flux has been blogging about fascinating stuff lately. He urged supporting Denmark during the cartoon wars. There's an interesting point about Brokeback Mountain that occurred to me recently that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere in the media: The murder of Matthew Shepherd looms very very large in the American gay psyche. (He was the gay guy killed by gay-bashers in Wyoming in the '90s). The play "The Laramie Project" was about the case, and was a huge hit. I've seen it referred to constantly. So the cultural elite thought to themselves: How can we get revenge for Matthew Shepherd? Not just on the perpetrators, but on the entire class of people who resemble the perpetrators? Ah ha! |

I just talked about this with one of my staff members who is Indian and was just there a couple of months ago. According to her, the significance of this cannot be underplayed, and it is likely to cause the whole region to explode. I watched a really informative program on Military channel today about the boomers. We have 17 of them, and 8 are out on patrol at all times.
The missiles they carry can hit 14 different locals at the same time. One missile could destroy all of central America and make it unliveable for 150 years.
These subs are completely independent when fully stocked with food. They don't have to refuel but every 24 years I believe reported during the program.
