A Walnut Hills man got a terrifying surprise Friday morning. Two men stormed through the front door of his home and shots were fired. When it was over, one man was dead and another man was traumatized.

Corey Simley told FOX19 over the telephone that he did not know the intruder and feels horrible about what happened. Around 8:00 p.m. Friday morning, at his apartment in Walnut Hills, Simley's life was forever changed.

In Simley's own words to a 911 operator, here's what happened. Simley told the 911 operator that he shot Michael Harris, 22, in the face. Harris died on the scene. According to witnesses, Harris and another man were parked outside Simley's apartment. Simley says the men both rushed in through the front door when he unlocked it to go to work. Simley says the second man ran off when he shot Harris. FOX19 is also told Harris had a gun, and at this time police say it appears to be a home invasion robbery gone bad.

"At this point, there is no indication that Mr. Smiley did anything wrong. It'll be up to the prosecutor to review all the evidence and see if there is anything to prosecute, " says Lt. Kurt Byrd.

Police say they're now looking for Michael Harris' accomplice. He's described as a black male in his 20s, last seen wearing all black. Michael Harris had several run-ins with the law ranging from assault to and domestic violence.

This is outrageous! If I were the homeowner, I'd feel horrible too. How the hell did the second intruder survive!!! He needs better gun control.

Police also believe that he may be looking for a change of pants. His voice may also be an octive or two higher until his testicles drop back down.

As Plutarch noted, the story is so badly written, it is hard to tell what actually happened. It isn't clear to me whether Simley/Smiley (take your pick) used his own gun or the intruder's gun.

I live in a small town where there is almost no crime yet every day when I leave my house I am armed. Maybe he was a believer in an armed citizenry.
