The arrival in Nashville this month of a new governor and legislature will dispel some of the lingering mistrust built up by the outgoing Sundquist administration during the rancorous four-year battle over a state income tax. But it won't be enough to clear the way for tax reform.

The fastest way to refrom our tax system and to reduce taxes is to eliminate federal withholding. Period.

That would work at the federal level and in states that have an income tax. However, Tennessee does not have a state income tax. (See? You don't necessarily need an income tax to have corrupt politicians, but it helps.)
