Michael Crichton: "FEMINISM COMMIT INTELLECTUAL SUICIDE WITH ITS SUPPORT OF CLINTON" I had one of the first subscriptions to Ms. magazine. I was actually quite sorry to see feminism take the nosedive it did, to watch it commit intellectual suicide with its support for Clinton. If they like the guy, he can do anything. But if they don't--if it's Bob Packwood--they kill him. It revealed the intellectual contradiction. At least that's my reading of it.

- "Who is Juanita Broaddrick? I've never heard of her!" cried Betty Friedan, the founder of modern feminism. Friedan's outburst came at last Friday's conference, entitled "The Legacy and Future of Hillary Rodham Clinton." Held at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. D.C., the event offered a chilling microcosm of an angry, divided America.
-
- For nearly an hour, a five-woman panel had been debating whether Hillary qualified as a "feminist heroine." I thought Broaddrick's claim of having been raped by Hillary's husband had some bearing on this point, so I broached the subject during the question-and-answer period. Friedan's dyspeptic denial followed.
-
- Was Friedan telling the truth? Maybe. And maybe all those millions of Germans who professed ignorance of the death camps were telling the truth too. The problem is, having admitted her ignorance, Friedan showed no interest in exploring the matter further. And that was the problem with the Germans too.
-
- Totalitarian impulses flourished at the conference. Taking a page from Soviet psychiatry, some Clintonites suggested that Hillary hating might be a mental illness. . .

She NAILED him! TY for the post. Gore floundered horribly. It reveals a lot about what it takes to be a DNC presidential nominee.

What we have here is the Dukakis Effect, but of a much higher order of magnitude. You will recall that the Effect appeared full-blown during the '88 presidential debates, when Bernie Shaw (CNN) asked Michael Dukakis if he would favor the death penalty for the hypothetical rapist of his wife. Rather than demonstrating the appropriate affect, anger, Dukakis launched into a rigorous analysis of the death penalty. In Gore's case, the situation is worse. The rapist wasn't hypothetical, and Broaddrick wasn't his only victim...
and yet Gore launched into an emotionless, non-judgmental , lawless brand of amorality that is uniquely left-wing. |

Wow, that algore was stuttering and stammering worse than Bob Newhart on crack cocaine!
In an election as close as the one in 2000, Katherine Prudhomme's courageous stand played a major role in denying the impeached one a third term through his weak, multiple-personality basket case of a vice president.
Ironically, the same Democratic party that won because of women in 1992 and 1996 has found itself on the losing end ever since because of women like Prudhomme, Linda Tripp,
Marisleysis Gonzalez, Kathleen Willey, Juanita Broaddrick, etc.
I couldn't even watch the entire answer by Mr. No-Controlling-Legal-Authority. It's awkward enough when he has to defend his own corrupt behavior in life, but to see him try to stand up for the impeached rapist is just too much.

Good point about Dukakis and his strangely detached, analytical debate response.
By the way, as Sam Donaldson prepares to jump onto msNBC's sinking ship with his own primetime show, we should give him at least a little credit for being the only White House reporter who had as much courage as Katherine Prudhomme. During a White House press conference, Donaldson boldly asked the creep about Juanita Broaddrick's interview that had actually aired on another network (NBC's Dateline), and Shoutin' Sam even tried to shoehorn in a follow-up when it became clear that the cigar-toting clinton was cowardly referring the question to his lawyers.

Prior to the Internet becoming mainstream, taller candidates won 80% of the time. Height hardly affects a man's vote. Visual images have a way of distracting the opposite gender. I think that trend is now over, THANK GOD! INFORMATION IS NOW DOMINATING POLITICAL THOUGHT. Truth does not have Information Supremecy, and never will. In fact, as the internet grows more image-oriented, there is the danger of a new leftist controlled media oligopoly. But that will take time. FReegards....

I don't know how I missed seeing this before -- pretty amazing in a twisted way ...Did I actually understand Gore to be saying...it's okay if a President does horrible things (in his private life) as long as he does a good job for the American people ??

AN OPEN LETTER TO HILLARY CLINTON BY JUANITA BROADDRICK'DO YOU REMEMBER? SUNDAY OCT 15, 2000
As I watched Rick Lazio's interview on Fox News this morning, I felt compelled to write this open letter to you, Mrs. Clinton. Brit Hume asked Mr. Lazio's views regarding you as a person and how he perceived you as a candidate. Rick Lazio did not answer the question, but I know that I can. You know it, too.
I have no doubt that you are the same conniving, self-serving person you were twenty-two years ago when I had the misfortune to meet you. When I see you on television, campaigning for the New York senate race, I can see the same hypocrisy in your face that you displayed to me one evening in 1978. You have not changed.
I remember it as though it was yesterday. I only wish that it were yesterday and maybe there would still be time to do something about what your husband, Bill Clinton, did to me. There was a political rally for Mr. Clinton's bid for governor of Arkansas. I had obligated myself to be at this rally prior to my being assaulted by your husband in April, 1978. I had made up my mind to make an appearance and then leave as soon as the two of you arrived. This was a big mistake, but I was still in a state of shock and denial. You had questioned the gentleman who drove you and Mr. Clinton from the airport. You asked him about me and if I would be at the gathering. Do you remember? You told the driver, "Bill has talked so much about Juanita", and that you were so anxious to meet me. Well, you wasted no time. As soon as you entered the room, you came directly to me and grabbed my hand. Do you remember how you thanked me, saying "we want to thank you for everything that you do for Bill". At that point, I was pretty shaken and started to walk off. Remember how you kept a tight grip on my hand and drew closer to me? You repeated your statement, but this time with a coldness and look that I have seen many times on television in the last eight years. You said, "Everything you do for Bill". You then released your grip and I said nothing and left the gathering.
What did you mean, Hillary? Were you referring to my keeping quiet about the assault I had suffered at the hands of your husband only two weeks before? Were you warning me to continue to keep quiet? We both know the answer to that question.
Yes, I can answer Brit Hume's question. You are the same Hillary that you were twenty years ago. You are cold, calculating and self-serving. You cannot tolerate the thought that you will soon be without the power you have wielded for the last eight years. Your effort to stay in power will be at the expense of the state of New York. I only hope the voters of New York will wake up in time and realize that Hillary Clinton is not an honorable or an honest person.
I will end by asking if you believe the statements I made on NBC Dateline when Lisa Myers asked if I had been assaulted and raped by your husband? Or perhaps, you are like Vice-President Gore and did not see the interview.

khaps, more amazing by Gore's statement is that he regards RAPE "a private matter."
Now, either the fellow can't think on his feet, or he is a self-serving coward, or he is an utter idiot...or all of the above, which I suspect is the case...

I like Sam Donaldson. Didn't use to, but I've seen him mellow over the years. He seems intent to get to the truth. I think having his second wife walk out on him humbled him and he's worked hard at his third marriage, so I think he identifies more with core values at this point. I refuse to let the remote even get to MSNBC when Donohue is on. I would give Donaldson a chance.

Now to try to unscramble my previous post to you: ;)
What is, perhaps, more amazing by Gore's statement is that he apparently regards RAPE "a private matter."
Now, either the fellow can't think on his feet, or he is a self-serving coward, or he is an utter idiot...or any two of the above...or all of the above, which I suspect is the case...
