Im not saying I'd be happy about it but I could understand the political rationale. This however is a stupid waste of money in a liberal do gooder way which serves no political purpose.

Perhaps the money, as Bush stated, would go first and foremost to educate those not already infected on how to avoid infection, such as the programs currently getting results in Uganda... If the money i given straight to the nation's leaders, then I would not support it... However, if we bypass the usual corrupt mechanisms (such as The UN, WHO, etc...) and the money is actualy used for it's stated purpose, I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever...
that is, until congress agrees to implement my 'Nuclear' concept for AIDS eradication...

Foreign aid in the name of "compassion"--Christian or otherwise--is a non-starter. Government is in the justice business and it is in the defense business. It is not in the Christian charity business. That is the business of private individuals, and I would encourage you to send your own money directly to AIDS relief entities in Africa if that is your wont. Careful Kevin your beginning to sound like a libertarian.

There is no political rationale (legitimately) for 'buying votes'...

Personally, I don't want to see one more thin American dime invested in any way in that s**thole known as Africa.

Well, he's trying to get at the root of the problem. Africa is a major source of AIDS, there is no question about that. However, $15 billion to fight AIDS in Africa is indeed unprecedented.

I have a detailed user's manual for my Chevy pickup that descibes how to operate it. Nowhere does it say that I must open the door first to get into it.
You are far, far too literal and constraining in your understanding of the Constitution. All implied powers necessary and proper to carrying out express powers are legitimate. The President is charged with defending the United States and pursuing its foreign policy to the benefit of the people of the United States. If the efficient pursuit of those goals requires the expenditure of money via foreign aid, then foreign aid is fully constitutional.

I don't know how to break it to these nuts, but God's law trumps the Constitution (magnificent as it is). It is our duty to do what we can to attend the suffering of fellow men when they cannot help themselves, whether they live next door or in another country. If we cannot share our blessings, we don't deserve to have them.Big sneeze........You wanna spend you money? Go for it. Send half you paycheck pal. Leave mine the hell alone..

Made it all up my self, sitting right here. Thanks for your shout out though, Aqualung.

It MIGHT actually work Yeah but I don't think the odds in Vegas would show that the handicappers think its likely.

There's no more bunker-monkey isolationism post 9-11, but the embittered-populists and LP narcissists here will never understand that reality or undertake that vital responsibility.Well if you are so hell bent on saving the world, why don't you get your butt off the computer, go to the bank, check out your life savings, get on a plane and get your butt to Africa, and save them all. With your money preferably!
And after that, you can head to India, with whats left of your money and save all the poor and needy there, and save all them, and then Nigaruaga, Banladesh, Columbia, Malasia Puerto Rico, etc etc etc etc
One of these days, you open border, one world, liberal konservatives will wake up......
Send us a note from the Congo chum. Just don't ask for my money when yours run out.

President Bush, under fire from AIDS groups for what they call his neglect of the epidemic, asked Congress Tuesday to triple AIDS spending in Africa and Haiti to $15 billion over five years. WADDAGUY! Oh,YEAH! Nobel peace prize fer sure! Maybe they will raise a statue to him in places like Somalia? Wonder if they will call him "Santie Causcasian"?
Nobody,but NOBODY outpanders Bubba Bush!
To: Joe Hadenuf
People like you make it impossible for people like you to ever be taken seriously. The moment you open your mouth and start spewing the typical whacko language, you prove yourself a joke.
To: Joe Hadenuf
I liked it back in the day when Republicans response to world hunger, poveerty etc was basically f*** the poor. Putting them on the dole doesn't help them anyway, anyone who wants to is free to put up their own money.

Clinton is no longer the problem, Bush is." Yup,just wait until he promises Green Cards, government jobs, and free housing to these sick Africans and to the Muslims bombed out of their houses by US forces. It should be interesting to see what kind of excuses his serfs make for him then.
