I watched FoxNews after the speech.
Juan Williams seemed genuinely impressed with what Bush said about helping children of prisoners and AIDS victims in Africa.
I have to admit, I admired Juan for dropping his usual partisanship at that moment.
I discussed Juan's reaction with my daughter this morning and I think she found the right words for what happened to Juan.
She said he must have had an epiphany.

Juan Williams seemed genuinely impressed with what Bush said about helping children of prisoners and AIDS victims in Africa. Question: where does the Constitution authorize federal programs for mentoring the children of prisoners? For helping AIDS victims (in Africa or otherwise)?
I was disgusted (as usual) by the speech. My former party has completely abandoned even the pretense that they're for limited government or the Constitution. The difference between the Demoncrats and the Pubs is merely a matter of degrees.

He did exactly what Bush planned to have happen when he deliberately chose to pander to the left. But don't get me wrong, it was a great speech.

I caught Juan's comments. too. I was amazed to hear him say someything to the effect of "This guy actually seems human." He seemed truely befuddled. Maybe he won't be invited back as the "liberal" next time.

Actually, I think Juan Williams has been going through a process of growing admiration for Republicans. He was also genuinely touched when he commented on how the Republicans cleaned up their own mess after Lott's unfortunate comment that cost him his job. He looked then as though he had tears in his eyes. While JW is liberal and not the heavy weight on Fox, he is also not an airhead. He cuts ranks with fellow liberals and it costs him when it does. He talked about this one night with Brit Hume. It's apparent that he greatly admires Brit even when they disagree. Juan thinks for himself... give him time.

I was impressed as well. He said he was moved by the speech. I like Juan and now I like him even more.
